AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF PINS FOR
THE JEFFERSONVILLE STEAMBOAT DAYS FESTIVAL
WHEREAS, the Common Council for the City of Jeffersonville, Clark
County Indiana (hereinafter the "Council"), is City's statutory Fiscal and
Legislative Bodies pursuant to Indiana Code;
WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville Parks Authority has previously approved
the sale of pins for the Jeffersonville Steamboat Days Festival at a price of $5.00
per pin to be used for access to the various events of the Steamboat Days
Festival;
WHEREAS, the Council, as the City's Fiscal and Legislative Body, and
after due consideration, now finds and determines that it is in the best financial
interests of the City to authorize the sale of the said pins at a price of $5.00 per
pin;
WHEREAS, the revenue generated from the sale of said pins shall be
deposited into a fund to be used by the Parks Department to offset the costs and
expenses associated with conducting the Steamboat Days Festival.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council:
1. That the Parks Department is hereby authorized to sell pins for the
Jeffersonville Steamboat Days Festival at a price of $5.00 per pin to be used as
access to the various events of the Steamboat Days Festival.
2. That the revenue generated from the sale of said pins shall be
deposited into a fund to be used by the Parks Department to offset the costs and
expenses associated with conducting the Steamboat Days Festival.
This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval.

VETO AND STATEMENT OF REASONS
Comes now the Mayor for the City of Jeffersonville, Mike Moore, having reviewed Ordinance
No. 2014 -OR -23, "An Ordinance Authorizing the Sale of Pins for the Jeffersonville Steamboat Days
Festival" and hereby vetoes said ordinance and in support states the following reasons:
1. The Jeffersonville Steamboat Days Festival for the year 2014 has received funding from
various sources such as the Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission, the Jeffersonville Urban
Enterprise Zone and the private sector.
2. As a result of these funding sources, the budget for the Jeffersonville Steamboat Days for
the year 2014 is adequately funded resulting in excess funds.
3. There is no need to raise additional funds from the sale of pins for the Jeffersonville
Steamboat Days Festival.
4. The sale of pins for the Jeffersonville Steamboat Days Festival is unfair to the citizens
and taxpayers of Jeffersonville since the festival has been adequately funded for 2014 without the sale of
said pins.
5. The citizens and taxpayers of Jeffersonville should not be charged admission to the
Jeffersonville Steamboat Days Festival and its various event
