Promedia The City Council met with Dan Williamson from ProMedia Group to discuss the current contract with the City in regards to the website, newsletter, and social media. Councilperson Gill began the meeting with concerns to making the City website a little more user friendly and would like to see the H.R. links to job openings easier to find. Mr. Williamson stated that in his initial contract for last year the only thing he was responsible for was the main (Home Page) of the website and the departments would upkeep their own pages. Mr. Williamson stated that this step of taking care of their own pages has not taken off like he thought it would have. Councilperson Sellers stated she would like to see the webpage a little cleaner and suggested placing the articles for specific departments, like parks, under the appropriate department page. Mr. Williamson agreed. Councilperson Glover reminded the council that Mr. Williamson is only able to pass on the information that is given to him and encouraged his council members to continue passing information on to ProMedia. Councilperson Julius stated he has concerns with spending $4,500 a month and stated his constituents have expressed concern over that amount. Mr. Williamson stated that for social media it is $1,500 a month and Councilperson Glover expressed his support of the social media outreach because it is constant and current. Councilperson Samuel asked a few questions regarding the contract details of what ProMedia does for the City. Mr. Williamson outlined some of the duties as promoting and reporting as well as focusing on the "happy stories" of Jeffersonville. Councilperson Samuel stated he feels that the city needs a point person to lead the city in communications direction and be a "point person" for the city. Councilperson Owen challenged this idea with asking who that person is for the city of Louisville. Councilperson Glover and Owen agreed that the person dealing with the public in communications is usually the Mayor or the City and the Department Heads. Mr. Williamson agreed that when something happens the people want to see the person in charge. Councilperson Payne stated he feels the city communication is "up" compared to previous years. Councilperson Sellers agreed that they can't go back, but they do need to figure out what they are willing to spend. Councilperson Sellers suggested cutting out some of the VNR's in order to save some money. The council decided to meet in another workshop on November 18th, 2013 AT 6:00 P.M. to discuss the money they will be comfortable spending. Councilperson Owen made a motion to ADJOURN at 6:00 P.M. with Councilperson Payne seconding, PASSING on a vote of 7-0. ATTESTED BY latA/ Vicki Conlin, Clerk onnie Sellers, President
