OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
October 23, 2013
Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:31am and on the call of roll were Mr. Rick Lovan. Absent:
Councilperson Glover.
Also present: HR Director Kim Calabro, P &Z Director Shane Corbin, City Engineer Andy Crouch, Utility
Billing Manager Elisha Dale, Controller Amy Deering, IT Director Matt Dyer, Police Chief Chris Grimm,
Animal Shelter Director Charlie Heavrin, Assistant Fire Chief Bruce DeArk, Corporate Attorney Les
Merkley, Street Commissioner Clark Miles, Safety Director Amir Mousavi, Parks Superintendent Paul
Northam, Building Inspector Larry Wallace, Executive Assistant Judith VanGilder, Vehicle Maintenance
Director Bubby Vissing, Administrative Assistant Candy Stewart.
Mr. Lovan made a motion to APPROVE the October 16, 2013, minutes with Mayor Moore seconding,
PASSING on a vote of 2 -0.
Mr. Lovan made a motion to APPROVE payroll with Mayor Moore seconding, PASSING on a vote of 2 -0.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. Shane Corbin — Demolition of House on Kehoe Lane: Planning & Zoning Director Shane Corbin
stated that around February of this year he brought to the board's attention a house on Kehoe
Lane. At that time, the board agreed to allow additional time for the owner to make repairs to
the home to avoid demolition. Mr. Corbin stated that no significant repairs were ever made to
the house. The owners obtained a permit to tear down the house themselves which they never
did and since it has been 90 days, the city can revoke their permit. Mr. Corbin stated that the
board has already approved the demolition of this property, but wanted to make the board
aware that the city plans to demolish the house this week. Mr. Lovan stated that the city was
told that they would be sued if they didn't give the property owners time to get their stuff out of
the house, but explained that there are no floors, plumbing, or wiring and there isn't anything in
the house to be removed. Mr. Corbin agreed and stated before proceeding with the demolition
they will photograph and document the property.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. Josh Rodriguez — Terrace of Park Place Halloween Street Closures: Mr. Rodriguez came before
the board to request the following streets be made one -way for Halloween: Kewanna one -way
going north and Chippewa one -way going south. Mr. Rodriguez also requested 6 barricades
from the Street Department to be delivered on Wednesday so they can put them out at 5:30pm
on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Mr. Lovan and Mayor Moore suggested Mr. Rodriguez speak to
Street Commissioner Miles after the meeting. Mr. Lovan made a motion to APPROVE the street
closures and barricades with Mayor Moore seconding, PASSING on a vote of 2 -0.
2. Rick Lovan for Ed Haire — Shop with a Cop Car Show: Mr. Lovan stated that Mr. Haire is
requesting barricades be placed at 7 th and Watt, Watt and Court and block off the alleys from
7:OOam to 5:OOpm November 2, 2013, with a rain date of November 3, 2013. Mr. Lovan
explained that this event is a car show that funds the Shop with a Cop program. Mr. Lovan made
a motion to APPROVE the street closures with Mayor Moore seconding, PASSING on a vote of 2-
0.
3. Mark Mendosa — Request for Dumpster on Street at Chestnut and Pearl: Mr. Mendosa came
before the board to request permission to have a dumpster placed on Pearl Street for a two -
week period starting today so they can renovate the property at 301 Pearl for a yogurt shop. Mr.
Lovan made a motion to APPROVE placing the dumpster on the street at Chestnut and Pearl for
two weeks with Mayor Moore seconding, PASSING on a vote of 2 -0.

ADJOURNMENT:
Mr. Lovan made a motion to adjourn at 9:38am with Mayor Moore seconding, PASSING
unanimously.
