APRIL 9, 2013
President Dennis Henry called the Jeffersonville Police Merit Commission meeting to
order at 6:00 P.M. on April 9, 2013 in the City Hall, Jeffersonville, Indiana. The
following members were present: Dennis Henry, Bonnie Deppert, Jim Hall, Attorney
Bob Bottorff and Patty Rush. Absent were Clay "Beany" Smith and Jeremy Snelling.
MINUTES:
President Henry presented the minutes from March 12, 2013 meeting, asking if
there were any corrections. Ms. Deppert made motion to approve the minutes as
presented and seconded by Mr. Hall. Voted 3 -0
President Henry submitted a bill for Invoice #4643 in regard to Attorney fees for
the month of March, which was in the total amount of $710.00. Ms. Deppert made
motion to pay the Invoice in amount of $710.00 and seconded by Mr. Hall. Voted 3 -0
President Henry passed out the budget for 2013 to the members to review. The
budget will be presented to the Jeffersonville City Council on May 6 meeting.
Jason Jackson and Josh Lynch with the Jeffersonville Police Department will be
preparing information regarding evaluations. When all information is gathered, they will
meet back with the Commission. Attorney Bottorff will contact IPSP regarding testing.
He will advice that there will be no openings for the position of Captain; therefore, no
testing will be conducted for that position.
Jason Jackson the FOP Representative advised that there are some complex issues
regarding Kevin Anderson and Todd Wilson. Sections were review in the Policies and
Procedures. President Henry addressed Todd Hollis regarding contract notifications for
back pay. He advised that probation is for one (1) year after hire date and information
concerning PERF.
Chief Grimm will request another School Resource Officer for his department.
He will withhold the hiring date until June 2013. If approved he will ask for three more
officers also in June.
Attorney Bottorff stated that the Council should consider amending some of the
status to work with the Commission and Jeffersonville Police Department for changes or
amendments.
