THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
July 24, 2000
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Workshop session in the
Mayor's Conference Room in the City County Building, Jeffersonville, Indiana on the
24th day of July, 2000.
Council Presidem Ron Ellis, with Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder at the desk, called the
meeting to order at 7:10 PM. Other Councilpersons present were Barbara Wilson, Les
Merkley, Rob Waiz, Ron Grooms, Vicki Conlin and Denny Frantz.
Council Presidem Ron Ellis asked those present who wished to address the City Council
to sign in. He adrvised those in attendance that they would not be allowed comment after
the time allotted by the Council.
Those speaking in favor ora salary increase and longevity pay were:
Larry Decker, Sharon King, Larry Hardin, Alice Davis, Linda Mills, Susan Robertson,
Becky Snelling, William Shelling, Jackie Langdon, Jeff Witherspoon, Mayor Galligan,
Charles Hay, Clerk Treasurer Wilder, Michael Haven and Taurus Little.
Those speaking in favor of funding the Jeffersonville Youth Commission were:
Josh Clemmons, Diane Muller and Beverly Knight.
Council President Ellis called for a five-minute recess.
When the Council reconvened, Clerk Treasurer Wilder presented the assessed valuation
at $230,344,740 for the year 2001. The Council then discussed the Police and Fire
Pension budget and agreed the amount would be leit as is. The Sanitation budget was
discussed, and the Council cut the 10% across the board increase proposed. The City
County Building rental was discussed, and Councilperson Wilson will get the building
rental agreement to the Council for further discussion. The Parks Department budget was
discussed, and the Council then went over the Cum Cap Development and Improvement
funds. The Council then discussed the Youth Commission budget, and would like to talk
to the Parks Board about funding the Youth Commission through their budget.
The Council agreed to discuss the Salary Ordinance at the next scheduled workshop.
There being no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
