THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
July 17, 2000
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Workshop session in the
Mayor's Conference Room in the City County Building, Jeffersonville, Indiana on the
17z day of July, 2000.
Council President Ron Ellis, with Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder at the desk, called the
meeting to order at 5:30 PM. Other Councilpersons present were Barbara Wilson, Les
Merkley, Rob Waiz, Ron Grooms, Vicki Conlin and Denny Frantz.
Council President Ron Ellis explained to the Council that Clerk Treasurer Wilder did not
have the budgets prepared for distribution, but would have them at the Wednesday
workshop.
Council President Ron Ellis then presented the 2001 Common Council budget for
discussion. Councilperson Conlin requested that traffic silomls be funded at a greater
amount because of emergencies in the past. Councilperson Frantz informed the Council
that the Board of Public Works purchased a truck to make repairs in house.
Councilperson Conlin recommended that the traffic signal fund be non-reverting.
Councilperson Grooms suggested that office supplies be lowered. Building rent was
discussed as an item that needs to be funded at a greater amount. Council President Run
Ellis also suggested Council project money to use at a Councilpersons discretion in the
amount of $35,000. Councilperson Conlin believes that there is enough money in the
budget for projects without the addition, and that the Council -at -Large should work with
district Councilpersons. The Special project fund was also discussed, and the Council
discussed what amount to fund the Clark County Health Care Clinic. Main Street funding
was discussed, and Councilperson Conlin recommended cutting Main Street to $15,000.
Jay Ellis, the Director of Main Street will be invited in to discuss his budget estimate and
explain the need for funding.
The drainage fund was discussed, and the drainage board will be questioned about the
account and money necessary for a grant match.
There being no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 PM.
