OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MAY 29, 2013
Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:35 A.M. and on the call of roll were Councilperson Bryan
Glover and Public Works Coordinator Rick Lovan.
Also present: Fire Chief Eric Hedrick, IT Director Matt Dyer, Building Commission Russ Seagraves, City
Engineer Andy Crouch, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, WWTP Len Ashack, Street Commissioner David
Hosea, Police Chief Chris Grimm, Controller Amy Deering, Human Resource Generalist Morgana
Landrum, Corporate Counsel Les Merkley, Planning and Zoning Director Shane Corbin, Parks
Superintendent Paul Northam, Executive Assistant Judith VanGilder, City Clerk Vicki Conlin.
Councilperson Glover made the motion to APPROVE the minutes of the May 22, 2013, seconded by Mr.
Lovan, passing on a vote of 3 -0.
Mr. Lovan made the motion to APPROVE payroll, Councilperson Glover seconding, passing on a vote of
3 -0.
OLD BUSINESS:
Animal Shelter Signage: Mr. Lovan presented the sign designed by Ms. Hinton for the Ogle Animal
Shelter. Councilperson Glover made the motion to APPROVE, seconded by Mr. Lovan passing on a vote
of 3 -0.
NEW BUSINESS:
One -Way signage on High Street: Mr. Lovan presented request in the absence of Mr. Keith Norrington,
Director and Curator of Howard Steamboat Museum. Mr. Norrington requesting to have additional
One -Way signed placed on High Street do to the signage not able to be seen and curbing along the brick
wall in front of the museum on High Street is crumbling and falling out into the street. Mr. Lovan
commented to have someone to visit the site and TABLE until next week.
Phyllis Collier request to change the name of Virginia Ave to Amanda Cole Ave: Ms. Collier requesting
the name change of the Virginia Ave off 8 th Street. Mrs. Cole was a schoolteacher and taught for Head
Start and a Commissioner for Public Housing. Ms. VanGilder stated that the Housing Authority agrees
with the change and spoke with Dan Matson with Planning and Zoning who stated the process started in
2011. Mayor Moore asked Ms. Collier to let him meet with Shane Corbin, Director of Planning and
Zoning to TABLE and vote on the name change at next week meeting. Mr. Lovan made a motion to
TABLE, seconded by Councilperson Glover. Motion passed 3 -0.

Sara Schutz- Road Closure for June 13 -16 Smokin' on the River: Ms. Schutz requested closing of Spring
St. at Flood Wall, Riverside Dr. from Wall ST. to Clark St., Pearl St. South of Flood Wall, Wall St. South of
Flood Wall. Dates of closures are June 13 12:00 P.M. to June 16 12:00 P.M. Councilperson Glover
made the motion to APPROVE the closures, seconded by Mr. Lovan, passing on a vote of 3 -0.
Denise Taylor- We Get To Organization for Wacky Wednesday: Mayor Moore read the Proclamation
proclaiming June 5, 2013 as Wacky Wednesday and for Janine Taylor's 5 Heavenly Birthday. Mrs.
Taylor stated WGT and Wacky Wednesday during her daughters bone marrow transplants hospital stay.
Rick Lovan /Jay Ellis — Jeff Fest: Mr. Lovan presented the request of items in need of approval from BPW
for Jeffersonville Entire Family Fun Festival (JEFF Fest. Items are:
1) Market Street closed between Spring Street and Pearl Street
2) Alley closed behind News and Tribune building
3) Alley closed behind Preservation Station
4) Restroom trailer brought to parking lot behind Preservation Station
5) Picnic tables (8) - lightweight version if possible
6) Folding Tables (12)
7) Chairs (20)
8) Trash Cans (12)
9) Banner over Court Ave from May 29 -June 8
Also: Approval for these Court Avenue Banner dates:
4 of July Parade banner (June 20- July4)
Wine Walk & Shop banner (June 27- July12)
Parks Superintendent Paul Northam reported the request would also go before the Parks Event
Committee. Street Commissioner David Hosea asked if the street closures and banners would conflict
with the moving schedule of houses. Councilperson Glover made the motion to TABLE until next week
meetings until the logistics are figured out, seconded by Mr. Lovan passing on a vote of 3 -0.
Les Merkley — ATT Contracts: Corporate Counsel Merkley requested Approval of Four (4) contract
renewals with ATT &T Global Services, Inc. IT Director Matt Dyer stated Contracts are for telephone
system for City Hall, Total Monthly $980.00. T -1 lines for Police Evidence Room, $250.00 per month, Fire
Headquarters $160.00 per month, Fire Station 4 $400.00 per month. Councilperson Glover made the
motion to APPROVE the ATT &T Global Services, Inc., second by Mr. Lovan passing on vote of 3 -0.

Mayor Moore Comments: Mayor Moore stated Saturday June 1 at Noon street name changes from
Pennsylvania Ave and Green Street to Bates - Bowyer Ave and D.L. Motley, Jr. Way, and asked if the
signage and Trolleys are ready for the event.
AJORNMENT:
Councilperson Glover made the Motion to ADJOURN meeting of May 29, 2013 at 9:56 A.M., seconded
by Mr. Lovan.
