THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
April 10, 2000
The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Special Session in the Mayor's
Conference Room in the City County Building, Jeffersonville, Indiana on the 10t~ day of
April, 2000.
Mayor Tom Galligarg with Councilperson Vicki Conlin at the desk, called the meeting to
order at 6:15 PM. Other Councilpersons present were Ron Ellis, Barbara Wilson, Les
Merkley, Rob Waiz, Denny Frantz and Ron Grooms.
Others present were Council Attorney Shon Leverett, Evening News reporter Doug
Begley, Sissy Ellis, Keith McGraw, Tony Decker, Phil McCauley and Courier Journal
Reporter Gracie Lee Uy.
Council President Ellis welcomed everyone, asking all those present to stand for the
invocation and the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
The first item on the agenda was the City Council Appointment to the Sanitary Sewer
Board. The City Council then took a written vote, and candidates were eliminated by
rounds. The first round eliminated Charlie White. The second round eliminated Phil
Lovan. The third round eliminated Merle Stepp.
Council President Ron Ellis made a motion to appoint Jeffrey Caldwell, seconded by
Councilperson Frantz. The motion passed 6-1, with Councilperson Grooms voting
against.
There being no further business before the Council, the meeting was adjourned.
