HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-03-2000 WorkshopMinutes of the Jeffersonviile City Council Workshop Monday, April 03, 2000 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in WOrkshop session on Monday, April 3, 2000. The meeting was held in the Mayor's Conference Room. Council President Ron Ellis called the meeting to order at 5:10 P.M., with Clerk Treasurer Peggy Wilder at the desk. Other Council members in attendance were Les Merkley, Rob Waiz, Ron Grooms and Barbara Wilson. Absent at the call to order were Denny Frantz and Vicki Conlin. Councilperson Conlin arrived at 5:30 P.M. Councilperson Frantz arrived at 6:20 P.M. The City Council met for the purpose of interviewing applicants for the Sanitary Sewer Board. Councilmembers interviewed applicants by asking 10 questions fi.om a previously composed list. Applicant Jeffi'ey Caldwell of 219 Catalpa Drive in Utica Township was interviewed at 5:10 P.M. Applicant Charles White of 2402 Bishop Road in Jeffersonville was interviewed at 5:25 P.M. Applicant Merle Stepp o£3016 Callaway Drive in Jeffersonville was interviewed at 5:40 P.M. Phill Lovan of 22 Hawthorne Lane in Jeffersonville was interviewed at 6:05 P.M. Council President Ellis asked for suggestions fi.om the Council after the completion of the interviews. A points ranking system was suggested by Councilperson Waiz. Choices will be ranked by lst, 2nd, 3ra and 4th choice, and be will compiled at a later date. A decision on the Sanitary Sewer Board appointment was deferred until Councilperson Frantz has an opportunity to talk to Council Members regarding the interviews. The decision will be discussed at the next workshop meeting of the City Council. Council President Ellis referred to a letter that was given to him by City Engineer Bob Miller, a request for special projects funding consideration. A discussion was had about upcoming projects Council President Ellis also gave out a letter regarding an upcoming symposium and discussed a letter fi.om Philip Hendershot. A discussion was held and a consensus reached directing the next workshop meeting to be advertised as a special meeting, for the purpose of voting on the Sewer Board appointment. A discussion was had regarding Ordinance 00-OR-15, an amendment to the Slaty Ordinance and FOP contract. Council members were concerned that some officers would receive a cut in pay. This was confirmed by a telephone call to ChiefPavey, who was asked to attend the City Council meeting. Discussion was also held in regard to animal shelter spay/neuter programs and veterinarians eligible to receive reimbursement. Recommendations were made in regards to budgeting for special projects within each Council Member's district. The meeting was officially adjourned at 6:50 P.M.
