HomeMy WebLinkAboutApril 3rd, 2013 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA April 3, 2013 Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:36am and on the call of roll were Councilperson Zach Payne and Public Works Coordinator Rick Lovan. Also present: Assistant Fire Chief Bruce DeArk, IT Director Matt Dyer, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, WWTP Director Len Ashack, Storm Coordinator Deb Ashack, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing, Street Commissioner David Hosea, Police Chief Chris Grimm, Sewer Office Manager Elisha Dale, Controller Amy Deering, Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, City Attorney Les Merkley, UEZ Director Kelly Reed, Redevelopment Director Rob Waiz, Planning and Zoning Director Shane Corbin, Grant Writer DeLynn Rutherford, Parks Superintendent Paul Northam, Executive Assistant Judith VanGilder, Administrative Assistant Candy Stewart. Councilperson Payne made a motion to approve the March 27, 2013, minutes with Mr. Lovan seconding, PASSING on a vote of 3 -0. Approval of Payroll: None at this time. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Les Merkley — Landfill Contract: Councilperson Payne made a motion to TABLE the Landfill Contract, seconded by Mr. Lovan, PASSING on a vote of 3 -0. NEW BUSINESS: 1. Russ Segraves — Painting Contract: Mr. Segraves received two painting bids for City Hall. The first bid was from RT Solutions for $4,825 and the second from Dorman Painting for $6,600. Mr. Segraves stated that the Building Authority has already approved the bid with RT Solutions for $4,825. Mr. Lovan made the motion to approve the contract with RT Solutions, seconded by Councilperson Payne, PASSING on a vote of 3 -0. 2. Les Merkley — Watson Water Tower Contract: Mr. Merkley explained the contract with Watson Water has been created as a result of the Police Department wanting to place certain emergency communications equipment on the Watson Water tower. The cost to the City is only $1.00 per year and is for liability purposes. Councilperson Payne made the motion to approve the contract, seconded by Mr. Lovan, PASSING on a vote of 3 -0. 3. Mayor Moore — Street Cleaning Notice: Mayor Moore stated that street cleaning notices were placed on vehicles on 11 Street. The typed notices included the city symbol and say if residents do not move their vehicles they will be towed at the owner's expense. Mr. Hosea stated that no one from his department created the notices and asks if anyone knows who is responsible to let him know. 4. Chris Grimm — Street Closures for Thunder: Police Chief Grimm asked for approval of street closures for Thunder. Chief Grimm gave the board three lists with the first outlining street closures, the second no parking areas and the third barricade locations for Mr. Hosea. Mr. Lovan made the motion to approve the street closures, seconded by Councilperson Payne, PASSING on a vote of 3 -0. 1 5. Mayor Moore - Clarksville Fire: Mayor Moore stated that Jeffersonville Fire Department responded as back -up to a bad fire in Clarksville and the Clarksville Fire Department expressed their appreciation. Mayor Moore also praised Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing for going beyond the call of duty by having the idea of offering the service of the trolley to go to the area to transport people at the scene and keep them warm. Mayor Moore stated that he does a fantastic job and makes the city look good. Rick Lovan made a motion to adjourn at 9:43am, with Councilperson Payne seconding, PASSING unanimously.
