January 8, 2013
The regular meeting of the Jeffersonville Building Authority was held on Tuesday, January 8
2013, at 9:00 a.m. in the Building Commissioner's Conference Room on the second floor in the
Jeffersonville City Hall.
Present were Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Board Members Don Sperzel and Bill Fry.
Also present was Administrative Assistant Susan Robertson.
MINUTES
Mr. Sperzel made a motion to approve the December 11, 2012 minutes. Mr. Segraves said the
minutes said the deductable for the camera damaged by lightning was $500.00. He said the
deductable is actually $5,000.00 and going up to $10,000.00 in 2013. The motion was seconded
by Mr. Segraves.
NEW ORDINANCE AND LEASE
Mr. Merkley informed Mr. Segraves that the Ordinance and Lease should be ready to be
presented at the next Council meeting.
HR DOOR
The new door has been installed in the HR Department for the new employee. The cost was
$900.00.
HISTORY & APPROPRIATION REPORTS
The yearend reports were not available for this meeting.
DUMPSTER GATES
Mr. Segraves said this is the 3 time the dumpster gate has been damaged by wind. He said he
was in the process of fixing it again, but found out that it had already been fixed. He assumes
that Sun Properties did the work. He said the next time it happens we should consider using a
chain link gate so the air can go thru it.
COOLING TOWER/BOILER
Mr. Segraves reported that the problem with the cooling tower and boiler being on at the same
time has not been fixed. He said ECT, the control contractor, will be here this week.
A
SHOWER
The shower that is being installed on the third floor is 98% finished. The cost to put the shower
in was $1,250.00.
WALNUT RIDGE
The Mayor would like for the grass and lawn maintenance contract to go out for bid. The Board
likes the fact that Walnut Ridge does the rest of the complex so everything is done at one time
and they do a good job. We are paying Walnut Ridge $389.25 per month. After a discussion
Mr. Segraves said he would contact another company to submit a bid.
APPOINTMENTS
Mr. Segraves has not heard anything from the City Council with regard to the 2013
appointments to the Board.
ENTRANCE DOORS
Mr. Segraves will look into putting in an automatic door on one of the entrance doors. He said
a 32" clear opening is required, and putting it on only one door would work. He will also look
into having new hinges installed on the inner glass doors so they would close automatically.
HAND TOWEL /SOAP DISPENSERS
Mr. Segraves said the battery operated hand towel dispensers we currently have are very
expensive to operate. He is looking into switching to the manual pull down dispenser. RL
Solutions is responsible for supplying the paper towels. He said that RL Solutions will be
changing out the soap dispensers to the ones that use soap in bags. The ones we have now clog
up. RL Solutions is responsible for supplying the soap and the dispenser.
PAINTING
Mr. Segraves said he hopes to have the corridors painted this year after March or April.
FLUID KIT
Mr. Segraves is looking into purchasing a body fluid kit. He said it is not a requirement, but
thought we should probably have it on hand.
The next meeting will be held on February 12, 2013.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:25 a.m. on a motion by Mr. Sperzel and seconded by Mr. Fry.
