BEFORE THE COMMON COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
IN THE STATE OF INDIANA
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING GRANT APPLICATION WITH INDIANA OFFICE OF
RURAL AFFAIRS FOR NINTH STREET DRAINAGE PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana
(hereinafter the Council) recognizes the need to adequately address poor drainage and
excessive flooding in certain areas; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to address the drainage and flooding problems the city is
proposing the Ninth Street Storm Drainage Project (see attached Exhibit "A "); and
WHEREAS, the Ninth Street Drainage Project is eligible to apply for funding from
the Indiana Office of Rural Affairs ( IOCRA); and
WHEREAS, the City must make application to IOCRA for a grant in an amount
between $500,000 - $750,000 to assist in funding the Ninth Street Drainage Project; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes application to IOCRA for this grant would be &`
beneficial in the City's efforts to adequately address poor drainage and excessive
flooding in certain areas.
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that this grant is contingent upon the
outcome of an independent income survey to ascertain whether the project area
satisfies the low to moderate income requirement set forth.
NOW THEREFORE IT IS RESOLVED by the Council that it supports the City
and the Department of Redevelopment proceeding with the grant application with
IOCRA for funding of the Ninth Street Drainage Project.

Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana.
