BEFORE THE COMMON COUNCIL
FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
IN THE STATE OF INDIANA
RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FROM THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE,
INDIANA FOR UNITED STATES BICYCLE ROUTE #35
WHEREAS, bicycle tourism is a growing industry in North America,
contributing $47 billion a year to the economies of communities that provide facilities for
such tourists, and
{
WHEREAS, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation
{ Officials (AASHTO) has designated a corridor crossing the length of Indiana from

Michigan to Kentucky, and vice versa, to be developed as United State Bike Route #35
(USBR #35), and
WHEREAS, the Hoosier Rails to Trails Council, Bicycle Indiana, with local
communities and cyclists, and the Adventure Cycling Association, with the cooperation
of the Indiana Department of Transportation and other stakeholders, have proposed a
specific route to be designated as USBR #35, a map of which is herein incorporated into
this resolution by reference, and
WHEREAS, the proposed route for USBR #35 crosses the STATE OF
INDIANA and can therefore provide a benefit to our residents and businesses, and
Whereas we have investigated the proposed route and found it to be a suitable route, and
desire that the route be designated so that it can be mapped and signed, thereby
promoting bicycle tourism in our area,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Commons Council for the City of
Jeffersonville, Indiana as the legislative body that the City of Jeffersonville hereby
expresses its approval and support for the development of USBR #35, once that official
designation has been made.
Petition is also hereby made for the Indiana Department of Transportation to
actively cooperate with the Hoosier Trails Council, Inc. to effect this corridor.
