HomeMy WebLinkAbout8-29-12 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA August 29 2012 Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:34 A.M. and on the call of roll were Councilperson Lisa Gill and Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing sitting in for Public Works Coordinator Rick Lovan. Also present was Parks Superintendent Paul Northam, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, City Engineer Andy Crouch, Police Chief Chris Grimm, Animal Shelter Director Sarah Green, WWTP Director Len Ashack, Street Commissioner David Hosea, Grant Writer Delynn Rutherford, Fire Assistant Chief Bruce DeArk, Fire Chief Eric Hedrick, Planning and Zoning Director Shane Corbin, Assistant Controller Amy Deering, Redevelopment Director Rob Waiz, I.T. Director Matt Dyer, Communications Director Leah Farris, Safety Director Mike Ogg, Corporation Counsel Tom Lowe, City Attorney Les Merkley, and Deputy Clerk Erica Burress. Councilperson Gill made a motion to approve the August 22 2012 minutes with Mr. Vissing seconding, passing on a vote of 3 -0. Councilperson Gill made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Mr. Vissing, passing on a vote of 3 -0. OLD BUSINESS: NONE NEW BUSINESS: 1.) Len Ashack /JTL /MAC Construction- Lane Restriction Middle Road: JTL and MAC Construction representatives requested board approval of a traffic control plan for the Middle Road sewer project. There will be fiaggers and traffic signals that move as construction moves down the road to control traffic around the proposed lane restriction. They stated that they have met with American Water Company since part of the construction will take place in front of their building. Councilperson Gill made a motion to approve the traffic control plan for the middle road sewer project, with Mr. Vissing seconding the motion, passing unanimously. 2.) Andy Crouch - Reverse of streets around Howard Steamboat Museum: City Engineer Andy Crouch asked board approval of the reversal of Division Street and W High Street around the Howard Steamboat Museum to better flow traffic around the museum. Councilperson Gill made a motion to approve the reverse of traffic flow on Division Street and W High Street, with Mr. Vissing seconding the motion, passing unanimously. 3.) Tom Lowe -Storm Preparation: Mr. Lowe asked for city officials and department heads to prepare for the upcoming rain from Hurricane Isaac expected to hit our area this weekend, by cleaning out rain gutters and drains as well as alerting citizens to be prepared. 4.) Mayor Moore- Ground Breaking East -end Bridge: Mayor Moore announced to all department heads that there will be a ground breaking ceremony Thursday August 30 " ,2012 at the River Port for the East End Bridge and to let him know if they would like to attend this historic moment for Jeffersonville.
