HomeMy WebLinkAbout8-15-2012 1 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA August 15 2012 Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:33 A.M. and on the call of roll were Councilperson Lisa Gill and Public Works Coordinator Rick Lovan. Also present was: Sewer Billing Manager Rick Stephenson, Parks Superintendent Paul Northam, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, City Engineer Andy Crouch, Police Chief Chris Grimm, Animal Shelter Director Sarah Green, Safety Director Mike Ogg, WWTP Director Len Ashack, Grant Writer Delynn Rutherford, Fire Chief Eric Hedrick, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing, Communications Director Leah Farris, Planning and Zoning Director Shane Corbin, Controller Monica Harmon, Redevelopment Director Rob Waiz, I.T. Director Matt Dyer, Corporation Counsel Tom Lowe, City Attorney Les Merkley, Deputy Clerk Erica Burress. o- Councilperson Gill made a motion to approve the August 8 2012 minutes with Mr. Lovan seconding, passing on a vote of 3 -0. Mr. Lovan made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Gill, passing on a vote of 3 -0. OLD BUSINESS: 1.) Rick Lovan- Bike Rack at Mike's Barbershop: Mr. Lovan made the board aware that there was a sewer i e dropped off by the new bike P PP Y rack at Mike's Barbershop. The consensus of the board and department heads was that it could have been City Pride who dropped off the pipe. NEW BUSINESS: 1.) Danielle Jostes- Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: Mrs. Jostes asked for board approval of the 2nd Street Bridge on October 28 2012 from 12:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. for the walk for Making Strides against Breast Cancer. Mrs. Jostes stated that she is aware of the $1000 fee and has already gotten the approval from Metro Louisville. Police Chief Grimm stated that his department has been made aware of the event and is prepared to support it Councilperson Gill made a motion to approve the closure of the 2nd street bridge on October 28 2012 from 12:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. with Mr. Lovan seconding. 2.) Mike and Linda Allen- Blasts at Rock Quarry: Mrs. Allen came before the board to ask advice on what the correct steps would be to protect her house in neighborhood of Northaven from further damage due to the blasts at the Rock Quarry. Councilperson Gill suggested asking the Quarry for a device to hook onto the house to measure the blasts. Mrs. Allen indicated that she had asked for one on several occasions in the past and has to yet to receive it. Mayor Moore suggested that she speak with Rick Lovan after the meeting for advice and the city would be to any help that they could be. 3.) Judith Cundiff - Watford Manor Damage: Mrs. Cundiff personally thanked the city for the help and stated she is very satisfied with the new paving. Mrs. Cundiff stated that the Mayor's office was very accommodating. 0. 4.) Tom Lowe /Sarah Green- Animal Shelter Partnership: Animal Shelter Director present a Shelter Partnership Agreement between JB Ogle Animal Shelter and No Kill Louisville that will help to diminish the euthanizing of adoptable animals. Mr. Lowe stated that he believed this is a "win -win" for the City of Jeffersonville due to the benefits of the partnership. No Kill Louisville would not have any control over the Animal Shelter and it would provide many more resources for the city. Councilperson Gill made a motion to approve the Shelter Partnership Agreement between J.B. Ogle Animal Shelter and No Kill Louisville, with Mr. Lovan seconding and passing unanimously.
