The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in a workshop on Monday July 16 2012. Council
President Ed Zastawny called the workshop to order at 6:12 P.M. and on the roll call members present
were Councilpersons Connie Sellers, Bryan Glover, Zach Payne, Lisa Gill, Matt Owen, and Council
President Ed Zastawny. Absent: Councilmembers Mike Smith, Dennis Julius, and Nathan Samuel.
Guests present: Felix Hensley, Fire Chief Eric Hedrick, Fire Assistant Chief's Josh Thompson and Bruce
Deark, Police Chief Chris Grimm, Police Assistant Chief Scott Oliver, Controller Monica Harmon, and City
Council Attorney Scott Lewis.
Felix Hensley Employment
The Jeffersonville Fire and Police Department came before the Council to discuss the benefits of the City
of Jeffersonville hiring Felix Hensley as a part time employee whose contract is up in August. Fire Chief
Hedrick gave a hand out that highlighted some job responsibilities that would possibly be under Mr.
Hensley's job title. The possible title for the position Mr. Hensley would fill is Public Safety Support
Service Director at a base salary of $36,000 and no benefits included. Some of the job responsibilities
listed by Chief Hedrick include developing programs for technical rescue response, coordinates public
event planning with necessary agencies, assist with coordination of emergency planning and
management, develop mutual aid agreements, and monitor the expenditures associated with Public
Safety grants. Police Chief Grimm stated that they have been in contact with H.R. regarding the job
description and that the Mayor is supportive of this hire. Council President Ed Zastawny responded that
the council is supportive and would like to see details worked out concerning where the pay comes from
and the job description details from H.R.
Councilperson Sellers made a motion to adjourn at 6:41 P.M. with Councilperson Payne seconding,
passing unanimously.
