HomeMy WebLinkAbout7-18-2012 1 Minutes of the Board of Public Works tt Of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana July 18,2012 Mayor Moore called the meeting to order at 9:34 A.M. and on the call of roll were Public Works Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Lisa Gill Also present was: Animal Shelter Director Sarah Green, Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, Sewer Billing Manager Rick Stephenson, I.T. Director Matt Dyer, Parks Superintendent Paul Northam, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, City Engineer Andy Crouch, Vehicle Street Commissioner David Hosea, Police Chief Chris Grimm, Assistant Fire Chief Bruce DeArk, Safety Director Michael Ogg, Planning and Zoning Director Shane Corbin, Accountant Dennis Kestler, Redevelopment Director Rob Waiz, Grant Writer Delynn Rutherford, Communications Director Leah Farris, Corporation Counsel Tom Lowe, Deputy Clerk Erica Burress. Councilperson Gill made a motion to approve the June 20th, 2012 minutes with Rick Lovan seconding, passing on a vote of 3 -0. Councilperson Gill made the motion to approve the payroll, seconded by Mrs. Gill, passing on a vote of 3 -0. OLD BUSINESS: . (1) Rick Lovan — revisited the request by Mr Goss to remove the speed hump in the alley behind908 E. maple Street. Motion was denied after discussion with Andy Crouch and mayor Moore based on safety for the children in that area NEW BUSINESS: 1.)Mayor Moore — Presented City employees Jeff Johnson & Ryan Witherspoon with Commodore of the Port for working beyond the call of duty. 2.) Tony Burns & Josh Rodriquez from JNLI requested roadblocks for National Night out Locations were distributed. Requested lights at Lansing Park to be left on later than normal (timer). Mayor Moore asked them to meet with the Parks department to reserve the Park on that evening. 3.) Angela Jackson Brown requested the Quartermaster Complex and first floor of the city building for a festival on September 8, 2012 from 9:30 am — 4:00 pm. She mentioned many proposed partners including GCCS, Ivy Tech and many other g W y s. She expect 2500 people to attend. Councilperson Gill asked if she had contacted the Depot & Sun Properties to which she answered in the affirmative. The Mayor offered only the grass area next to the Depot & fountain. He denied the use of city electric and the council meeting room. Motion was made by Gill and seconded by Lovan to allow use of the grass area only and passed 3-0. I a t i t s 1 4.) Barbara Wilson — Request to have banner for River Breeze across Court Avenue from 8/20/12 until 9/6/12. Motion was made by Gill and seconded by Lovan. Motion passed 3 — 0. 5.) Angela Pepplar, from First Urology requested closure of the 2 Street bridge for Families for Fathers 5 K Walk & Run on September 8 from 7:30 am — Noon. Motion was made by Lovan and 2 by Gill. Passed 3-0. 1 6.) Paul Northam — requested a street closure on Saturday September 29 from 4:00 pm — 5:00 pm for a wedding on the Riverstage. Motion made by gill and 2 " by Lovan.
