A RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING BUSINESS
PARTICIPATION IN COMPOSTING TAG SALES
WHEREAS, the State of Indiana has enacted laws which require local
governmental authorities to reduce the amount of material placed in landfills; and
WHEREAS. one way that the City of Jeffersonville has chosen to reduce materials
placed in a landfill is to encourage recycling of vegetative matter produced in the City of
Jeffersonville; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffers0nville has devised a tag based composting system
for disposal of vegetative waste materials; and
WHEREAS, Citizens of the City of Jeffersonville are more likely to participate in
the composting program if tags required for the disposal of yard waste are readily
available.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE. that all retail merchants are encouraged to participate
in the display and sale of tags for the City of Jeffersonville yard waste composting
program as a way to show their support for the composting program and in an effort to
show environmental awareness and responsibility.
