OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MARCH 14, 2012
Mayor Mike Moore called the meeting to order at 9:30 A.M., and on the call of roll members present
were Public Works Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Lisa Gill. Present at the desk was Vicki
Conlin, City Clerk.
Also present were: Sara Green Animal Shelter Director, Fire Chief Eric Hedrick, Information Technology
Director Matt Dyer, Parks Superintendent Paul Northam, Building Commission Russ Segraves, City
Engineer Andy Crouch, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing, Street Commissioner David Hosea,
Police Chief Chris Grimm, Sewer Office Manager Rick Stevens, Controller Monica Harmon, Assistant City
Engineer Bill Dixon, Redevelopment Director Rob Waiz, City Attorney Les Merkley, Corporation Counsel
Tom Lowe, Planning and Zoning Director Shane Corbin.
Coordinator Lovan made the motion to APPROVE the minutes from the March S, 2012 meeting,
seconded by Councilperson Gill, passing on a vote of 3 -0.
Coordinator Lovan made the motion to APPROVE the payroll, seconded by Councilperson Gill, passing
on a vote of 3 -0.
OLD BUSINESS:
1) Mike Ogg- For Sale sign across from Stemler's Plumbing blocks line of sight for Hwy 62.
Planning and Zoning Director Corbin stated there is a regulation on the sight triangle his department
would follow up with the property owner.
2) Bill Dixon — Request for visually impaired wanting to assist to cross Hwy 62 and Court Ave.
Assistant Engineer Dixon has spoken with the person inquiring about the issue. The engineering
department is getting estimates together for traffic signals to assist the visually impaired.
3) Kingsfield traffic in the a.m. weekdays —
Coordinator Lovan and Chief Police stated the Police Department is monitory the situation.
NEW BUSNESS:
1) Rachel Oarlock — Johnny's Memorial 5k Run
Johnny's Memorial Sk Run to be held on June 2"' and has spoken with Officer Jackson for police
assistance during the 5K Run. Board of Public Works consensus City would be happy to assist.
2) Mark Scott- wants to put a piece of art outside his barbershop.
Mr. Scott stated he is actually requesting to install a decorative bike rack 6 Y: ft. x 3ft, for usage by
anyone. Councilperson Gill made the motion to APPROVE decorative bike rack to be placed in front of
Mr. Scott's barbershop, seconded by Coordinator Lovan, passing on a vote of 3 -0.

3) Tom Lowe - notify Tom and clerk of RFP's
Counsel Lowe requested from Department Heads of the need to notify both Corporate Counsel a d
City Clerk's Office.
4) Rick Lovan —2"" Annual Triathlon, Sunday Morning June 10, 2010, Swim 750 meters, Bike 12.4 mil s,
Run 3.1 miles/ Ohio River, Utica Pike to River Ridge, Under 1 -65 Bridge to Clarksville. Asked for EM •,
Fire Boat, Police, some barricades.
Coordinator Lovan reported on the Triathlon and sated that the police will assist before and at th - end
of the bikes coming and going up Utica Pike. Clark Memorial bridge will not be dosed for the eve t or
any event during the time of 1-65 "Kennedy Bridge" repair.
5) Barbara Wilson —City Pride Planting Flowers on the South side of Court Avenue at Pearl and Locu
March 26 from 10:00 — 12:00.
Mrs. Wilson has spoken with Mr. Hosea and he will assist City Pride. Coordinator Lovan made the
motion to APPROVE the request, seconded by Councilperson Gill, passing on a vote of 3 -0.
6) Mayor Moore —Speed Limit Signs in Fields of Lancassange
Mayor Moore, Rick Lovan and Kelly Reed attended the Fields of Lancassange Neighborhood
Association meeting on Tuesday evening. The Association has requested that speed limit signs
posted in the subdivision Mayor Moore asked Street Commission Hosea to post the signs.
Coordinator Lovan made the motion to APPROVE the placement of speed limit signs for the Field of
Lancassange, seconded by Councilperson Gill, passing on a vote of 3 -0.
7) Rick Lovan — No right turn on red sign at B &G /Hamburg Pike.
Coordinator Lovan reported the situation of vehicles turning right on red coming out of B&G onto
Hamburg Pike and requested the street department to post a No Turn on Red sign. Councilperso Gill
made the motion to APPROVE No Tum on Red" sign, seconded by Coordinator Lovan, passing on a
vote of 3 -0.
8) Russ Segraves —Contract with Walnut Ridge
Building Commissioner Segraves requested the 8PW to sign a contract for $4671.00 with Walnut ' dge
for landscaping and mowing services at the City Hall. The contact was approved during the Buildi
Authority meeting. Coordinator Lovan made the motion to APPROVE the contract with Walnut RI ge,
seconded by Councilperson Gill, passing on a vote of 3-0.
9) Chris Grimm —Stop signs at in Whispering Oaks
Police Chief Grimm received an e-mail today from the president of Whispering Oaks Neighborhoo
Association requesting Stop Signs, there is none in the subdivision. Neighborhood Association will pay
for the signs need permission for placement and locations of the signs. Coordinator Lovan made t e
motion to APPROVE, seconded by Councilperson Gill, passing on a vote of 3-0.
10) Eric Hedrick — Emergency Resource Committee
Fire Chief Hedrick would like to put together an Emergency Resource Meeting with the Fire, Police
Street Department, Sarah Green, and Delynn Rutherford, City Council appointment, Rick Stephen • n,
Leah Farris, John Paul, Rick Lovan, Matt Dyer, business and other community organizations.

Coordinator Lovan made the motion to ADJOURN, seconded by Councilperson Gill eeting Adjourned at
10:10 A.M.
