RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JEFFERSONVlLLE, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE
SUBMITTAL OF A TITLE IX GRANT APPLICATION TO
THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION.
WHEREAS, official authorization of the filing of the Title IX
Grant Application is required; and,
WHEREAS, there is a need to stimulate economic growth and
employment to offset the Indiana Army Ammunition Plant closure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the city
of Jeffersonville, Indiana that:
1. The Common Council hereby authorizes the filing of
said application, jointly with the Indiana Port Commission and
with Clark County, including all understandings and
assurances contained therein, and directs and authorizes
the Mayor of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana,
to act in connection with the application and to provide such
additional information as may be required. The Mayor is further
authorized to accept or affirm the grant if the grant is
awarded.
2. Local funds in the amount of $579,750.00 are hereby
committed as the City's portion of the total grant match of
$702,250.00 with the remaining $122,500.00 in local funds to be
committed by the Indiana Port Commission. The total project
cost is $2,809,000.00; the Economic Development Administration
grant is $2,106,750.00.
3. The Common Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into
a lead entity agreement with Clark County and the Indiana Port
Commission legally binding all applicant entities for purposes
of the project and authorizing the City of Jeffersonville to
represent and administer the project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk-Treasurer of said City of
Jeffersonville, Indiana, is hereby ordered and directed to give
notice as provided by law.
Adopted by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville,
Indiana, this twenty-fifth day of April, 1994.
