HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-21-2011 1 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA December 21, 2011 Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan sat in for Mayor Galligan and called the meeting to order at 9:40 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members present were Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon sitting in for Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Barbara Wilson Also present were: Parks Director Bob Manor, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing, Street Commissioner David Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Harry Wilder, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Officer Don Grimes, Safety Director Michael Ogg, Communications Director Larry Thomas, Planning & Zoning Director Brian Fogle, Assistant Fire Chief Mike McCutcheon, Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, IT Director Roger Hardy, Financial Advisor Monica Hannon, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, City Attorney Darren Wilder, and Clerk & Treasurer's Office Representative Amanda Oelze. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from December 14, 2011, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon seconded and passing unanimously. Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon made the motion to approve payroll, Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan seconded, and passing on a vote of 2-0-1 with Councilperson Barbara Wilson abstaining. OLD BUSINESS Cherry Creek Street Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to table until the next meeting on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, seconded by Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, and passing unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Parade Permit Stephanie Redd came before the board to request a permit to have the Martin Luther King parade on January 16, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. The parade is to go from City Hall to the Northside Christian Church. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon seconded and passing unanimously. Numbered Stoplights Mike Zapp and Richard Eklin came before the board to bring a request to have the stoplights down 10 street numbered. Street Commissioner David Hosea said he was already in the process of having that done. The signs have been sent to be made. Depending on how long the signs take to be made, it should be done in two to three weeks. Employee Handbook Human Resources Director Kim Calabro brought before the board the new City Employee Handbook. The handbook was approved by the City Council at their meeting on Monday, December 19, 2011. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon seconded and passing unanimously. Human Resources Director Kim Calabrc asked that the handbook not be distributed to the employees until next year. She will go around and answer any questions that the employees may have. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to adjourn at 10:01 A.M. and Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon secondeq, passing unanimously.
