HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-14-2011 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA December 14, 2011 Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan sat in for Mayor Galligan and called the meeting to order at 9:38 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members present were Street Commission David Hosea sitting in for Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Barbara Wilson Also present were: Parks Director Bob Manor, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing, Animal Shelter Director Harry Wilder, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Officer Don Grimes, Safety Director Michael Ogg, Communications Director Larry Thomas, Planning & Zoning Director Brian Fogte, , Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, IT Director Roger Hardy, Financial Advisor Monica Harmon. Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, City Attorney Darren Wilder, and Clerk & Treasurer's Office Representative Amanda Oetze. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from December 7, 2011, Street Commission David Hosea seconded and passing unanimously. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve payroll, Street Commission David Hosea seconded and passing on a vote of 3-0. OLD BUSINESS NONE NEW BUSINESS Cherry Creek Condos Diane Bums with the Cherry Creek Condos carne before the board to request the City of Jeffersonville to adopt the street Wooded Way and make it a public street. There are 107 condos. There will need to be a recorded document drawn up by the City Attomey Darren Wilder. Street Commissioner David Hosea made the motion to table until the next meeting on Wednesday, December 21, 2011. seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson and passing unanimously. Drug and Alcohol Policy Safety Director Michael Ogg came before the board to request approval for the revisions to the drug and alcohol policy. Some verbiage has changed, but the biggest change is there will now be the rapid analysis for drug testing after accidents and probable suspicion of drug usage. It will help reduce the administrative leave because the results are available within fifteen minutes. Street Commissioner David Hosea made the motion to approve, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson and passing unanimously. Employee Handbook Human Resources Director Kim Calabro brought before the board the new City Employee Handbook. There are several changes, the handbook had not gone before the City Council yet and after some discussion Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to table until the next meeting on Wednesday, December 21, 2011. seconded by Street Commissioner David Hosea, and passing unanimously.
