A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR ONE SOUTHERN INDIANA
WHEREAS, in 2011 the Jeffersonville City Council withdrew their financial support
from One Southern Indiana for their policy of endorsing local political candidates;
WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville City Council feels that if an organization relies on and
enters into a contractual agreement with public entities they should not publicly
endorse specific candidates for future elections;
WHEREAS, One Southern Indiana has since changed their policy on endorsing
candidates in local elections and going forward has indicated they will no longer
continue this practice;
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville recognizes a partnership with One southern
Indiana can provide opportunity for future economic growth and prosperity;
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville recognizes One Southern Indiana's success
greatly depends on their ability to secure adequate funding and financial
resources necessary to provide benefits to its members.
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville stands to receive economic and financial
benefit from the success of One Southern Indiana.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville, Indiana, that the City of Jeffersonville provide financial support in
the amount to be determined annually by adoption of a contract for services
reviewed by the Common Council and adopted by the Board of Public Works.
