BEING A RESOLUTION OF TIIE JEFFERSONVILLE COMMON COUNCIL
ALLOWING THE CONTROLLER FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE TO
ACCESS ALL FINANCIAL ACCOUNTS BELONGING TO THE CIVIL CITY
OF JEFFERSONVILLE
WHEREAS, as of the I6th day of November, 2009, the Civil City of Jeffersonville was
convened from a third class city to a second class city; and 200i - 0 & - q5
WHEREAS, pursuant to Indiana Code 36- 4 -10 -2, the fiscal officer of a second class city
is the City Controller; and
WHEREAS, the City Controller is a position that is appointed by the city executive in
accordance with Indiana Code 36-4-9-6, as opposed to that of the clerk —vtes who is
elected by the voters of the second class city in accordance with Indiana Code 3-10-6 et.
seq.; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville has been authorized to
establish the office of Controller and a budget for the operation thereof since February 1
2011; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that such Controller have access to all financial accounts
owned by the Civil City of Jeffersonville in order to perform his or her duties as
prescribed by Indiana Code 36- 4 -10 -5 as the fiscal officer of the City of Jeffersonville;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville, Indiana to authorize and establish the position of Controller of the City of
Jeffersonville;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Controller for the City of Jeffersonville,
whosoever shall be named to that position, shall have absolute and full access to all
financial accounts maintained in the name of or on behalf of the Civil City of
Jeffersonville.
