WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Commission of Jeffersonville, Indiana is acquiring approximately 8
acres with improvements on land adjoining existing municipal owned and operated property with funds
from their operations and through financing with a ten year note; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to lease these premises for the use in locating the City of Jeffersonville,
Indiana Parks administrative offices and for the Police department to operate an impoundment lot; and
WHEREAS, the lease rental payments will be obligated to service this debt for a period of ten years
beginning in January, 2012 through December, 2022 or until the debt is retired, whichever may occur
first; and
WHEREAS, the Parks Department will pay $3,000 rent each month from their operating fund and which
fonds will be appropriated Rom their operating budget each year; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department will establish and operate an impoundment lot on the leased
premises for the purpose of generating revenues, first finding the obligation of monthly rent of $4,200
and then paying for the cost of operating an impoundment lot. Any surplus revenues from the operation
of the impoundment lot after the payment of rent and impoundment operations will be used to offset
costs of replacing police vehicles and police protective gear. All revenues will be deposited into the
General Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville authorizes the Mayor to execute the necessary documents to lease such property from the
Redevelopment Commission.
