WHEREAS, the Common Council desires to help pay for some costs incurred in
providing emergency relief to the citizens of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, the Red Cross provides these types of services to any area affected by an
emergency situation; and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City
of Jeffersonville authorizes the reimburse of $1,000 to offset the cost of services provided
by the Red Cross when, as a result of an emergency, they determine the need to open a 24
hour shelter within the city limits of Jeffersonville, Indiana. It is further authorized, that
if following a period of seven days, the need to continue Red Cross 24 hour shelter
services for the citizens of the City of Jeffersonville, another $1,000 will be authorized to
offset the associated costs. Funds will be provided from the Common Council General
Fund budget. The Emergency Services Manager shall be directed to initiate a claim to
the Red Cross for the costs as authorized.
