HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-19-2011 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA October 19, 2011 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:41 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members present were Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Barbara Wilson. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing, Street Commissioner David Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Harry Wilder. Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Officer Don Grimes, Safety Director Michael Ogg, Police Chief Tim Deeringer, Communications Director Larry Thomas, Planning & Zoning Director Brian Fogle, Fire Chief David Kaskie, Assistant Fire Chief Mike McCutcheon, Financial Advisor Monica Harmon, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, City Attorney Darren Wilder, and Clerk & Treasurer's Office Representative Amanda Oelze. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from October 12, 2011, Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan seconded and passing unanimously. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve payroll, Councilperson Barbara Wilson seconded, and passing on a vote of 3.0. OLD BUSINESS NONE NEW BUSINESS Street Closure Ed Haire come before the board to request a street closure from on Watt from rand Court for Crusade for Children's Car Show on November 5, 2011 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson, passing unanimously. Big 4 Bridge Sidewalk Detour Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon brought before the board a request from Construction Solutions for a detour on the sidewalk by the Big 4 Bridge. The sidewalk closest to the river will be closed from October 19, 2011 until the end of construction. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve, second by Councilperson Barbara Wilson, and passing unanimously. Speed Humps There will be a new procedure for the request for speed humps. There will now need to be a petition from the residents of the block that wants the speed hump. They will need it to come before the Board of Public Works for approval. The city will determine where the speed humps will be located once approved.
