OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
October 12, 2011
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:50 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members
present were Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Barbara Wilson.
Also present were: Parks Director Bob Manor, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing,
Animal Shelter Director Harry Wilder, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Officer Don
Grimes. Safety Director Michael Ogg. Police Chief Tim Deeringer, Communications Director Larry
Thomas, Planning & Zoning Director Brian Fogle, Emergency Planner Mindy Christian, WWTP
Director Len Ashack, Assistant Fire Chief Mike McCutcheon, Financial Advisor Monica Harmon,
Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, City Attorney Darren Wilder. and Clerk & Treasurer's Office
Representative Amanda Oelze.
Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from October 5, 2011,
Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan seconded and passing unanimously.
Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve payroll, Councilperson Barbara
Wilson seconded, and passing on a vote of 3 -0.

NEW BUSINESS
Banner
There was a request for a banner over Court Ave for the Great American Smokeout. She did not
arrive, but the board asked Parks Director Bob Manor to get it scheduled. Engineering
Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve depending on the dates, seconded by
Councilperson Barbara Wilson. and passing unanimously.
Veteran's Celebration
Chad Armstrong came before the board to request a dedication celebration to all the veterans at
Riverside and Clark. They also asked that Mayor speak at the dedication at 11 A.M.
Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve and seconded by Engineering
Coordinator Rick Lovan seconded. passing unanimously.
Street Closure
Sara Schutz came before the board to request two street closures for Halloween Downtown. She
would like Spring from Court to Maple be closed from 1:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Spring from Court
to Market from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on October 24, 2011. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made
the motion to approve. seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson and passing unanimously.
Memorial Park Landscape Project
Deb Ashack carne before the board to request permission to plant 64 trees around Memorial
Park. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve, seconded by
Councilperson Barbara Wilson and passing unanimously.
Removal of Railroad Sign
Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made brought before the board a request to remove a
railroad sign. The sign does not belong to the city.
Rolling Road Block
Jay Ellis came before the board to request a rolling road block starting on Spring St. for the Dash
5K on Saturday, November 5. 2011 at 9:30 a.m. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the
motion to approve. seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson and passing unanimously.
No Jake Braking
Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan brought before the board a request for semi trucks to not
"Jake Brake" The sign will actually say 'No Engine Braking" Councilperson Barbara Wilson made
the motion to approve, seconded by Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and passing
unanimously.
Mac
Mayor Galligan brought before the board Mac changes to payroll deductions. Engineering
Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson
and passing unanimously.
Speed Hump
Councilperson Barbara Wilson brought before the board a complaint on speed humps. The
majority of the people like the speed humps so they will no be removed.
Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to adjourn at 10:10 A.M. and
Councilperson Barbara Wilson seconded, passing unanimously.

Halloween Downtown — Monday, October 24 2011
NOTICE the route is down Spring St. from Court Ave. to Market St.
Spring Street between Court Avenue and Maple Street will be closed at
approximately 1:30pm for set up for the evening activities. This is done for the
safety and enjoyment of all involved in this great Jeffersonville event and we
appreciate your support. All of Spring Street from Court Ave. to Market Street will
be closed at approximately 5:OOp.m.
If you plan to participate, in this event, please email your confirmation to Sara
Schutz at sschutz(a)jeffparks.org by Monday, October 17 Please include your
business name, location and contact information.
You do not have to be a Spring Street Merchant to participate. If you are not a
Spring Street merchant you will be notified of your location by Thursday, October
20 The city does not provide tables or chairs for this event.
The City of Jeffersonville will provide treats as we have done in the past. We are
requesting that each merchant provide a small amount of treats for this event.
