HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-28-2011 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA September 28, 2011 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:37 a.m. and on the call of the roll Nose members present were Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Wayne Carter. Also present were: Parks Director Bob Manor, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing, Street Commissioner David Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Harry Wilder, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Officer Don Grimes, Safety Director Michael Ogg, Police Chief Tim Deeringer, Communications Director Larry Thomas, Planning & Zoning Director Brian Fogle, Fire Chief David Kaskie, Assistant Fire Chief Mike McCutcheon, Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, IT Director Roger Hardy, Financial Advisor Monica Harmon, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, City Attomey Darren Wilder, and Clerk & Treasurer's Office Representative Amanda Oelze. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve minutes from September 21, 2011, Councilperson Wayne Carter seconded and passing unanimously. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve payroll. Councilperson Wayne Carter seconded, and passing on a vote of 3 -0. OLD BUSINESS NONE NEW BUSINESS Unsafe Building Code Enforcement Officer Connie Sellers brought before the board an unsafe building at 16 Applegate Lane. She stated that the house had been destroyed by fire in July and Bank of America had been giving her and the property owner the run around. The property owner would like to tear down the house themselves. Engineering Coordinator made a motion to give the property owners 30 days to tear down the house themselves, Councilperson Wayne Carter seconded and passing unanimously. Handicap Parking Sign Doug Stubblefield came before the board to request a handicap parking sign in front of 230 Watt St. Officer Don Grimes will check it out and if he gives his approval one will be put. Councilperson Wayne Carter made the motion to approve the handicap parking sign pending the approval of Officer Don Grimes, seconded by Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and passing unanimously. Speed Humps Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan brought before the board a list of people that are requesting a speed hump on Lilly Lane. After further discussion Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve, second by Councilperson Wayne Carter, and passing unanimously. Street Commission David Hosea brought before the board a request to put a speed hump on Meadowlark Dr between Allison Lane and Robin. Engineering Coordinator made the motion to approve. Councilperson Wayne Carter seconded, passing unanimously.
