CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
RESOLUTION # Z. tf - R - v.;
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville desires to eliminate blighted areas within the
corporate limits of City of' Jeffersonville, Indiana, and specifically Main Street
Revitalization Project Area within downtown Jeffersonville, and
WHEREAS, identifying such areas is necessary for effective action to eliminate blighting
conditions, and
WHEREAS, public improvements such as sidewalks, storm water drainage and streets
have severely deteriorated, contributing to blighting conditions, and
WHEREAS, the Main Street Revitalization Project Area has experienced a cessation of
private investment since 2007, and
WHEREAS, 11.8% of first floor commercial space, 14.2% of second floor commercial
space, and 13% of total commercial space in the Main Street Revitalization Project Area
is currently vacant, and
WHERAS, 50% of the buildings within the Main Street Revitalization Project Area are
deteriorated, and
WHEREAS, widespread deterioration of commercial buildings within the Main Street
Revitalization Project Area has taken place as evidenced by growth of vegetation and
presence of litter in and around many commercial buildings,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Jeffersonville that the Main Street Revitalization
Project Area, as described below, is hereby designated as an area in need of
redevelopment as defined by Indiana Code 36 -7 -14:
The area encompassing the right-of-way along West Chestnut Street from the
intersections of Pearl Street to Spring Street including the entire intersection of Pearl and
Chestnut.
