HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-14-2011 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA September 14, 2011 Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan sat in for Mayor Galligan and called the meeting to order at 9:31 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members present were Officer Don Grimes sitting in for Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Barbara Wilson.. Also present were: Vehicle Maintenance Director Buby Vissing, Animal Shelter Director Harty Wilder, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Police Chief Tim Deeringer, Planning & Zoning Director Brian Fogle, Emergency Planner Mindy Christian, Fire Chief David Kaskie. W WTP Director Len Ashack, Assistant Fire Chief, Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, IT Director Roger Hardy, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, City Attorney Darren Wilder, and Clerk & Treasurer's Office Representative Amanda Oelze. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from September 7, 2011. Officer Don Grimes seconded and passing unanimously. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve payroll, Officer Don Grimes seconded, and passing on a vote of 3-0. OLD BUSINESS NONE NEW BUSINESS Heart Walk Road Closure Ashley Mason came before the board to request a road closure for the Heart Walk on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The route In from the Southem Indiana Visitors Center. down W. Market St., down Clark St. up Riverside Dr. up Riverpoint Plz and back down W. Market St. Officer Don Grimes made the motion to approve and Councilperson Barbara Wilson seconded, passing unanimously. Road Closure Nathan with O'Mara Construction came before the board to request Watt Street be closed between 8" and 9" on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve and Officer Don Grimes seconded, passing unanimously. Italian Festival Bernie PasquiantinO came before the board to verify final plans for the Italian Festival. Street Closure Jeff Minton came before the board to request a street closure on Riverside Dr. from Spring to Pearl for the Hope Music Festival on September 24, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Officer Don Grimes made comment that there are several events and road closures that day. They would have to look into it and get back with Mr. Minton. No other action was taken. AFLAC AFLAC Representative Christina Gilkey came before the board offering changes to the AFLAC account. After further discussion, it was tabled until the next meeting.
