RESOLUTION OF THE JEFFERSONVILLE COMMON COUNCIL
DESCRIBING THE RIVERFRONT FLOATING STAGE AND
REQUESTING FUNDS FROM THE
CLARK & FLOYD COUNTIES CONVENTION & TOURISM BUREAU
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana wishes to encourage and promote tourism
and economic growth and development in all areas of the City, including the City's
historic downtown areas and particularly at the Jeffersonville Riverfront and Terraced
Lawn; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville supports the continued development along the
Jeffersonville Rivcrfront and the Floating Stage Project, specifically described in Exhibit
"A" attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set forth herein; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville and the Jeffersonville Department of Parks and
Recreation will raise and acquire additional funds for the acquisition and modification of
barges for use as a Floating Stage; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville desires to work
cooperatively with the Clark & Floyd Counties Convention & Tourism Bureau for the
issuance of Capital Development Bonds pursuant to I.C. 6- 9- 3 -5(0; and
WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville Department of Parks and Recreation has been assigned the
responsibility to maintain and oversee the operation of the Floating Stage. Funding shall
be through the Jeffersonville Floating Stage Parks Non - Reverting Fund; and
WHEREAS, in the spirit of cooperation and acknowledgement of the contribution of the
Clark & Floyd Counties Convention & Tourism Bureau for this project, the Floating
Stage will be made available lo the Bureau during Thunder Over Louisville and at other
times that do not conflict with scheduled events.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville, Indiana that the Council requests funding from the Clark & Floyd
Counties Convention & Tourism Bureau in the amount of $300,000.00 to be paid toward
the cost of the modification of a purchased wharf boat and indoor theatre to add an
outdoor stage for public events at the foot of the Jeffersonville Terraced Lawn.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the description of the projects are attached and
incorporated as a part of this Resolution.
