HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-20-2011 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JULY 20, 2011 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineering Coordinator Lovan and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Police Chief Deeringer, City Attorney Wilder, Communications Director Thomas, Fire Chief Kaskie, Parks Director Manor, Vehicle Maintenance Director Vissing, WWTP Director Ashack, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Financial Advisor Harmon, Street Commissioner Hosea, Councilperson Sellers, Police Major Grimes, IT Director Hardy, Planning and Zoning Director Fogle, Human Resources Director Calabro, Sewer Office Manager Wright, Engineering Assistant Dixon, and Second Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of 7 -13 -11 as presented. seconded by • Engineering Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS GRC ROADBLOCK FUNDRAISER Chuck Watson appeared before the Board in regard to fundraising for the Jeff GRC team. Mayor Galligan said roadblocks are not permitted to anyone but the Fire Department. He said he could have the Fire Department do a roadblock for them and signs will be needed stating who the fundraising is for. HANDICAPPED PARKING SIGN Darath Omdorff of 1414 Francis Drive contacted Engineering Coordinator 1.ovan in regard to a handicapped parking sign. Mayor Galligan asked the police department to go out and look at the location and report back. • REQUEST TO CHANGE SPEED LIMIT SIGNS /ROLLING RIDGE A request was made by Jessica Kellem who resides in Rolling Ridge Subdivision for the speed limit signs to be changed from 25 mph to 15 mph. Street Commissioner Hosea said a speed bump has been put in but the speed limit sign will not be changed as that is too low and no one would follow it. STREET LIGHTS REQUESTED FOR SKYLINE ACRES IV Engineering Coordinator Lovan said Dirk Ballard requested twelve street lights in Skyline Acres IV. The City is going to split the cost with the developers of Skyline Acres. 4 WAY STOP SIGN REQUEST/WOEHRLE ROAD AND CHARLESTOWN PIKE Councilperson Sellers said she had a request for a 4 way stop sign at Woehrle Road and Charlestown Pike. No action was taken on this. STREET CLOSURE/CONVENTION BUREAU Jennifer Abbott with the Convention Bureau requested to have Southern Indiana Avenue past the Visitor Center to the end of the street closed on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 2 pm to 11 pm for a scheduled welcome reception. Mayor Galligan said this would be no problem. • SPEED SWELL REQUEST/715 ROMA AVENUE, Councilperson Wilson said she received a request from Paul Mackey for a speed swell on Roma Avenue. Street Commissioner Hosea said this street is on the list. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Councilperson Wilson made the motion to adjoum the meeting at 9:50 ant, seconded by Engineering Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously.
