HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-OR-30ORDINANCE NO. 94-OR-~ AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE CLARK MEMORIAL BRIDGE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING pRESERVATION DISTRICT. WHEREAS, the that the research, protection, development of historic Council of the City restorati public and Indiana, declares reconstruction, or WHEREAS, the United historic resources with listing on of the Interior has recognized the Building as significant Register of Historic Places; and WHEREAS, it is of Jeffersonville, Indiana, to Clark Memorial Bridge permitted by District having been a Historic Building 84-OR-34, as amended, by the Historic Board of Review of the City :, to be known as the District, with such uses as City of Jeffersonville, such Review of the City of Jeffersonville, for the purpose of preserving the architectural, historical, and cultural significance and educational value of the described area; and WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville Historic Board of Review has conducted a study and prepared a map describing the boundaries of the area_it wishes to establish as a historic district pursuant to I.C. 36-7-11-6; and WHEREAS, the Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission, the only owner of the property within this "single site" Historic District, has no objection to inclusion in a Historic Preservation district. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, as follows; Section 1. Ordinance 842OR-34, as amended, which ordinance is commonly known as the Historic Board of Review ordinance of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, be and the same is hereby amended in order that the zoning classification of the following described real estate in the City of Jeffersonville, Clark County, State of Indiana; Being all of Lot 4/16, part of Lots 4/9, 4/10, 4/11, 4/12,//13,//14, 4/15 and paxt of a vacated alley in Block 20 in the City of Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana and being further described as follows: Beginning at an iron pipe on the Northwest comer of Illinois Avenue and Third Street, same being the Southeast corner of Block #20 in said City: Thence West along the North line of Third Street 119.0 feet to an iron pipe; thence North 6 deg. 24' East, 68.21 feet to an iron pipe; thence South 76 deg. 18' 27" East, 3.90 feet to an iron pipe, thence North 13 deg. 47' 37" East, 40.12 feet to a point; thence 18.58 feet along the arc of a curve to the right, having a radius of 24.00 feet and being subtended by a long chord having a beadng of North 35 deg. 58' 34" East, and a distance of 18.12 feet to a point thence North 58 deg. 09' 30" East, 21.11 feet to a point; thence 24.46 feet along the arc of a curve to the right, having a radius of 11.50 feet and being subtended by a long chord having a beadng of South 60 deg. 55' 15" East and a distance of 20.10 feet to a point thence South 4.27 feet to a point; thence East 3.59 feet to an iron pipe in the West line of Illinois Avenue thence South along said West line 319.26 feet to the place of beginning. Containing 28,427 square feet (0.653 acre) more or less. Being a portion of the same property conveyed to the Commonwealth of Kentucky by the City of Louisville, Kentucky by Deed dated November 1, 1946, recorded in Deed Book 152, Page 465. Commonly known as 315 Illinois Ave., Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130. See also attachments: Map depicting "boundaries" BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY established as a Historic Preservation District with such uses as permitted by Ordinance Number 84-OR-34, as amended, of the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and shall be known as the Clark Bridge Administration Building Historic District. Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor, and publication.
