A RESOLUTION OF THE JEFFERSONVILLE COMMON COUNCIL TO
REQUEST THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE TO AMEND POSTAL
CODES OF THE ANNEXED TERRITORY OF THE CITY OF
. JEFFERSONVILLE
WHEREAS, the City of Jeffersonville, Indiana annexed certain territory previously
identified as Charlestown, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, the citizens and residences within those annexed territories are citizens of
the City of Jeffersonville; and
• WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service continues to identify those citizens and
residences of the annexed territories as Charlestown, Indiana addresses with a zip code of
47111; and
WHEREAS, in the interests of clarity and to prevent confusion, it would be beneficial for
all residences within the annexed territory to be identified as Jeffersonville, Indiana
addresses with a postal code of 47130;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Jeffersonville, Indiana, that the Council requests that the United States Postal. Service
shall give all citizens and residences within the annexed territory of the City of
Jeffersonville. a Jeffersonville, Indiana address with a corresponding postal code of
