HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-11-2011 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA May 11, 2011 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:39 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members present were Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Barbara Wilson. Also present were: Parks Director Bob Manor, Street Commissioner David Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Harry Wilder, Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Officer Don Grimes, Safety Director Dominick Mongarella, Police Chief Tim Deeringer, Communications Director Larry Thomas, Planning and Zoning Director Brian Fogle, Emergency Planner Mindy Christian, Fire Cehif David Kaskie, WWTP Director Len Ashack, Assistant Fire Chief Mike McCutcheon, Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, Financial Advisor Monica Harmon, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, City Attorney Darren Wilder, and Clerk & Treasurer's Office Representative Amanda Oelze. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from May 4, 2011. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan seconded. Councilperson Barbara Wilson and Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan approved the minutes with Mayor Galligan abstaining. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve payroll, Councilperson Barbara Wilson seconded, and passing on a vote of 3 -0. OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Request for Speed Bump Lacy Rose from Silo Ridge In Jeffersonville came before the board to request a speed swell at Silo Ridge North. Officer Don Grimes and Street Commissioner David Hosea will meet her out there to take a look at where she wants it. She was also instructed to start a petition for her neighborhood to get the speed swell. Request for Road Block and Banner Tina Attig with the American Legion came before the board to request a road block for a parade and to hang a banner on Court Avenue for the Salute Our Troops and Families Days on May 28, 2011. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve and Councilperson Barbara Wilson seconded, passing unanimously. Request for Vendor Permit Mike Konzelman came before the board to request a vendor permit to sell tacos from truck on city property. He was told that for special events he would need a different permit than a general vendors permit. He was also instructed to go to the Clerk & Treasurers office to obtain the permit. Request for Road Block Becky Hutchens came before the board to request a road block on June 11, 2011 from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M for the Schimpff's Confectionery to hold the 120" year celebration. The road block would be from Maple to Chestnut on Spring St. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve and Councilperson Barbara Wilson seconded, passing unanimously. Stop Sign and Turn Lane Mayor Galligan opened discussion on a stop sign at Middle Road and Oak Park. A study was currently being done. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made comment that a stop sign may back up traffic and that a car count has been done. The board also discussed widening Allison Lane at Meadowlark for a turn lane.
