AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF ORDINANCES
NO. 85-OR-51 & 89-OR-11 OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville is desirous of amending
said Ordinances in the best interest of the wastewater collector system in the City and related
areas connected to that system as to

Sewer Pipe Materials
Gravity sewer pipe, for sizes 4 inch up to ~inch, shall be poly vinyl
chloride (PVC) SDR 35 or 40, meeting the requirements of ASTM D-3034
(latest revision), with "O" ring type joints or glue joints.

Manholes

Manholes shall be precast concrete with Polyethylene Coated Steel Steps Or
Equivalent. Inside barrel diameter of manholes shall be four (4) feet, cones
and collars shall be provided where required on the plans. Manholes shall
have KOR-N-SEAL connectors as shown. Distance between manholes shall
not exceed 350 feet.
Property Services
The Contractor shall install, as close to the house as possible, a backflow preventer
and immediately down steam a cleanout in all installations. Installations over one
hundred feet (100') shall have additional cleanouts every one hundred feet (100').
Y Taps
When replacing sewer lines in older sections of the city, if an existing "Y tap" is
in use, it shall continue to be permitted.
The attached documents are incorporated by reference herein and shall amend the drawings
which they are intended to replace.
This ordinance shall amend those portions of ordinance numbers 85-OR-51 and 89-OR-11
which are inconsistant herewith, and shall become effective fourteen (14) days after its passage
and approval.
Each section of this ordinance is adopted separately. In the event that any part or section
of this ordinance is deemed to be illegal or invalid only that part or section shall be repealed.
The remaining parts or sections of the ordinance shall remain in effect.
Passed and adopted by the Common Council of City of Jeffersonville, Clark County, State
of Indiana, on the day of ,1994.
