HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-20-2011 MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA April 20, 2011 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members present were: Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan and Councilperson Barbara Wilson. Also present were: Parks Director Bob Manor, Vehicle Maintenance Director Bubby Vissing, Animal Shelter Director Harry Wilder, Major Don Grimes, Safety Director Dominick Mongarella, Police Chief Tim Deeringer, Communications Director Larry Thomas, WWTP Director Len Ashack, Assistant City Engineer Bill Dixon, Financial Advisor Monica Harmon, City Attorney Darren Wilder, Human Resources Director Kim Calabro, Fire Assistant Chief Mike McCutcheon and Deputy Clerk Tiffany Stiles. Councilperson Barbara Wilson made the motion to approve payroll, Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan seconded, passing unanimously. OLD BUSINESS Limestone Trace block party Major Don Grimes brought before the board and requested approval for the Limestone Trace block party as long as they are not blocking any of the fire hydrants so if needed they can be accessed. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve the block party, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson passing unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Starlight Strawberry Festival Cindy Ferree came before the board to request a banner be placed across Court Avenue before the May 28 festival. The board agreed to hang the banner as long as there was not a previous commitment. The banner must also have slits so that wind can pass through easily. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve the banner, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson passing unanimously. Request for bridge closure Representative Amanda Embry for the Susan G. Komen Association came before the board to request that the bridge be closed on October 8 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a 5k walk. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve the closure, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson passing unanimously. P.H. Dogs Dennis Robinson came before the board to request permission to sell food at Save -A -Lot, Rural King and other city properties. He was instructed to go to the Clerk & Treasurer's department for a vendor permit. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson passing unanimously. Jeff GRC Little League Parade Officer Don Grimes brought before the board and requested approval for the parade to be held on May 14 at 9:00 a.m. and follow the same route as previous years. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve the parade, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson passing unanimously. Tony Burns of Franklin Commons Tony Burns came before the board to request permission to sell hot dogs during the Steamboat Race at Riverside Drive and Spring Street. He was instructed to go to the Clerk & Treasurer's department for a vendor permit. Engineering Coordinator Rick Lovan made the motion to approve, seconded by Councilperson Barbara Wilson passing unanimously.
