City Hall, Council Chambers The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Special Session on Monday, March 21, 2011. Council President Mike Smith called the meeting to order at 5:40 P.M., and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilpersons Mike Smith, Keith Fctz, Connie Sellers, Barbara Wilson, Wayne Carter, and Nathan Samuel. Absent was Ed Zastawny. Also present was Chief Deputy Clerk Treasurer Suzy Bass. Approval of the agenda: The motion by Councilperson Samuel to approve the agenda second by Councilperson Carter passing on a vote of 6 -0. Jeffersonville Retail Market Study Economic Development Director Clarence Hulse introduced Lacey Beasley and Kevin Shriver from THE SHOPPING CENTER GROUP. Ms. Beasley thanked Director Hulse for all of his help on the project. She told the Council they are from the largest retail shopping group in the nation representing 300+ large retail companies; they also do 3 party leasing. They presented a power point presentation that listed national trends and gave details of the study and a marketing analysis of the City. Ms. Beasley and Mr. Burke presented flyers (attached) to market Jeffersonville and local businesses. She said the City would benefit by the increase of sales tax base, more jobs, and quality of life. They would like the Council to partnership with The Shopping Center Group. Councilperson Fetz said that his one concern is that the income in the study is substantially higher than the figure of a previous study. This could be attributed to the fact that this study included parts of Kentucky including Prospect, which has a higher household income. He feels that the City would be falsely promoting itself with this information. Councilperson Samuel asked the next step will be looking at what businesses the City is looking to bring in. Director Hulse said that the information provided by The Shopping Center Group can now be used by the City to attract new business. There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m. Council President Mike Smith Clerkure r Pegg y W ilder
