HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-11-2010MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA August 11, 2010 Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:41 a.m. and on the call of the roll those members present were Engineering Coordinator Lovan and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Parks Director Manor, Street Commissioner Hosea, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Building Commissioner SeGraves, Officer Grimes, Safety Director Mongarella, Communications Director Thomas, Planning /Zoning Director Fogle, Fire Chief Harrod, WWTP Director Ashack, Sewer Office Manager Wright, City Engineer Crouch, Human Resources Director Calabro, Councilperson Smith, IT Representative James, and City Attorney Wilder. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve minutes from August 4, 2010, seconded by Engineering Coordinator Lovan and passing unanimously. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve payroll, seconded by Councilperson Wilson, and passing on a vote of 3-0. OLD BUSINESS Unsafe Building Thomas and Helen Sunderland were brought before the board about their house on 712 East Seventh Street. They had 90 days to fix house, not enough progess made. Russ gave them the phone number for assisted living. Mayor Galligan said he wants to help them relocate and will make a phone call to Jeff Housing. The house will be torn down after the Sunderlands have been relocated. It will happen in approximately 30 days or less. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve, Councilperson Wilson seconded, and passing unanimously. NEW BUSINESS List of Police Officers Mayor Galligan presented the board with the list from the Police Merit Board regarding the ranking of the police officers that have interviewed. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve, Councilperson Wilson seconded, passing on a vote of 3-0. Request for a Walk Donna Williams of the Ohio Valley Blind Association came before the board to ask permission fora "Walk" It start on Riverside Drive to Spring Street, then go up Spring to the Water Park. It will go from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. There will be at least 25 people walking. She was instructed to get with Officer Grimes and Parks Director Manor to get the walk set up. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion, Councilperson Wilson seconded, passing on a vote of 3-0.
