JEFFERSONVILLE BUILDING AUTHORITY
MAY 11, 2010
The regular meeting of the Jeffersonville Building Authority was held on Tuesday, May l 1, 2010
at 9:00 a.m. in the second floor conference room at the Jeffersonville City Hall.
Members present were Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Don Sperzel, Bill Fry and Keith
Stayton.
MINUTES
Mr. Stayton made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 13, 2010 meeting. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Sperzel.
APPROPRIATION REPORT
Mr. Segraves handed out the Department Appropriation Report which showed a balance of
$320,546.07. Mr. Segraves explained that $72,000.00 will be transferred to the Capital Reserve
account. There is currently $210,000.00 in the account. The print out showed a zero balance but
the Clerk-Treasurer's Office assured him that the money is in the account. The expenses for the
Generator will be coming out of the Capital Reserve account.
GENERATOR
Mr. Segraves showed the Board a print out of the underground utility locations. Mr. Segraves
said he hired a company called "Bloodhound" located in Cincinnati to do the work. The charge
for the work was $550.00. Mr. Fry said it looks like they did a nice job based on the paperwork
presented. A discussion was also held on the gate/fence enclosing the generator.
Mr. Segraves reported that the work on the transfer switch is on schedule. He showed a sketch
of the area. The generator is scheduled to be shipped on May 28`x. Nixon Power is to service the
unit before delivering it to the site. The new control panel was discussed. Mr. Segraves said
everything is falling into place. He suggested the members take a look at the site.
FLOOR COVERING
The Jeffersonville Police Department requested that they use Flooring Concepts to install
interface carpet the in the office area for a price of $464.02. This charge is for material and
installation of the tiles only. It was reported that carpet tiles will be used because the dispatchers
need to stay in the room during the installation. The existing the is deteriorating. Mr. Fry made
a motion to allow the Police Department to have the carpet the installed. The motion was
seconded by Mr. Sperzel and carried unanimously.
Mr. Segraves had a sample of the carpet that is proposed on the stairwell. The bid from A-
Traditional Floor Covering and Co. in the amount of $2,519.54 which includes carpet, pad and
installation was submitted. Mr. Stayton made a motion to approve the proposal. The motion
was seconded by Mr. Sperzel and carried unanimously.
PAPER TOWEL DISPENSER
A battery powered paper towel dispenser was installed in the Mayor's restroom on a trial basis.
If it works well, eight more will be purchased at $35.00 each. Adam's Cleaning Service supplies
the rolls of paper towels for the dispenser.
AUTOMATIC FRONT DOOR
Mr. Segraves reported that he has not heard back from the company he has been working with.
During the door discussion Andrea Stevens from the Department of Redevelopment interrupted
the meeting to inform Mr. Segraves that the front doors were locked. Mr. Segraves said he has
contacted Roger Harding about the problem.
CANOPY
Mr. Segraves is working on getting bids on fixing the canopy at the front door. The roof has one
leak at the present time. Palmer Roofing caulked the area once, but it did not last long. The
board members agreed that a rubber roof would be best to use because the roof can be tapered.
WATER FOUNTAIN
Mr. Stayton asked why the water fountain on the second floor was not working. Mr. Segraves
said it froze up and said he and his plumbing inspector repaired it. A new thermostat was ordered
off the Internet for $30.00 plus shipping.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 a.m. on a motion by Mr. Sperzel and seconded by Mr. Fry.
