HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-14-2010~ MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JULY 14, 2010 ` Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present were: Engineering Coordinator Lovan and Councilperson Wilson. Also present were: Building Commissioner Segraves, Street Commissioner Hosea, Assistant Police Chief Grimes, City Attorney Wilder, Planning and Zoning Director Fogle, Personnel Director Calabro, City Engineer Crouch, Communications Director Thomas, Fire Chief Harrod, Parks Director Manor, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, WWTP Assistant Director Kearny, Safety Director Mongarella, Police Chief Deeringer, Director of Economic Development Hulse, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the minutes of June 23, 2010, June 30, 2010, and July 7, 2010 as presented, seconded by Engineering Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously. ~ Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS BRIDGE CLOSURE/DARE TO CARE WALK Joey Stinson requested a closure at the Second Street Bridge on September 19, 2010 for the Dare to Care Walk for approximately two and one half hours. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve the closure, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. NOISE DISTURBANCE William Headrick voiced concern about loud music at the Levee Bar on Market Street. He said the music goes on until the wee hours of the morning. Police Chief Deeringer said he would address the issue with the owner of the bar. REQUEST FOR TALLER FLAGPOLE Engineer Crouch said a request was made for permission to replace the pole on the island at Stn and French Street with a taller one. Mayor Galligan said this would be no problem. FUNDRAISER FOR JEFF HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER TEAM Fred Zerwanka appeared before the Board in regard to a SK Run in Mellwood Subdivision on July 31, 2010 at 8 am. Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve the request, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. CONTRACT APPROVAL Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve a contract with Cardinal Fence and Security in the amount of $2668.40, seconded by Engineering Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously. BENEFIT FOR AUTO AND HOME INSURANCE DISCOUNT Mayor Galligan said that American National Insurance is offering a 10 % discount for city employees for home and auto insurance. BIKE RACE COURSE Engineering Coordinator Lovan said the Bike Race course for August 7 and 8, 2010 has been moved. There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineering Coordinator Lovan made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:55 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
