OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
MAY 26, 2010
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present
were: Growth Coordinator Lovan and Councilperson Wilson.
Also present were: Parks Director Manor, Building Commissioner Segraves, Street Commissioner
Hosea, Assistant Police Chief Grimes, Safety Director Mongarella, WWTP Director Ashack, City
Attorney Wilder, Planning and Zoning Director Fogle, Personnel Director Calabro, Growth Coordinator
Lovan, IT Director Hardy, Executive Assistant Young, Emergency Planner Christian, Police Chief
Deeringer, City Engineer Crouch, Assistant Fire Chief Grant, Code Enforcement Officer Sellers, Sewer
Officer Manager Wright, Event Coordinator Schutz, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Communications
Director Thomas, Director of Economic Development Hulse, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.

4105 UTICA PIKE
Building Commissioner Segraves said Paula Muncy was served an unsafe building letter but
it came back undeliverable. City Attorney Wilder recommended trying to find a new address
for her to be served. A hearing is scheduled for June 23, 2010.
4002 UTICA PIKE/RIVERSIDE WATER
Attorney Wilder said the Riverside Water Board has extended the time for removal of the
structure. He has met with Attorney Bottorff and Indiana Landmarks and they have asked for
90 days to find a location for the structure. Building Commissioner Segraves does not object
to this request. Growth Coordinator Lovan made the motion to grant 90 days to relocate the
structure, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously. A hearing is
scheduled for August 25, 2010.
NEW BUSINESS
AUTOMOBILE CLAIM
Jamie Bonney told the Board that on April 28, 2010 she drove over a patched area on Walnut
Street and her oil pan got hung up on some metal plates on the road. She got an estimate for
repair to her car but her claim was denied by the insurance company because no other claims
had been reported by anyone else in the city. Safety Director Mongarella said he measured
the sight and took photos. He talked to the insurance company and was told the
documentation didn't support the claim. The amount of the claim is $1,080.00. Ms. Bonney
asked what to do now. Mayor Galligan asked Safety Director Mongarella to send Ms.
Bonney's pictures to the insurance adjuster. This item will be tabled for a few weeks to
gather more information.
PERMISSION TO COLLECT DONATIONS/I,EUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA
SOCIETY
Alisha Lopez inquired about doing a roadblock to collect money for the Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society. The Board told her that roadblocks aren't allowed in the city. They told
her to contact the County Commissioners about collecting in the county.
SMOKIN ON THE RIVER STREET CLOSURES
Event Coordinator Schutz asked the Board to approve street closures for Smokin On The
River Thursday June 17, 2010 thru Sunday June 20, 2010. Growth Coordinator Lovan made
the motion to approve the street closures, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried
unanimously.
STREET CLOSURE FOR JUNE RIVERSTAGE EVENTS
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the street closures for RiverStage events
in June, seconded by Growth Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously.
CLAYSBURG REUNION AUG. 6-8
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve the street closure on Locust St. and
Martin Luther King down to 15th Street on August 6-8 for a reunion, seconded by Growth
Coordinator Lovan and carried unanimously
NAACP RESOLUTION
Gary Leavell made the recommendation to change Locust Street to Thomas Bryant Street.
After some discussion Mayor Galligan said he would meet with Mr. Leavell, Mr. Gales, and
Councilperson Fetz on this item.

UNSAFE BUILDING/1402 TENTH S
Building Commissioner Segraves said he sent a letter to Monopoly Realty Company
regarding the exterior condition of the property at 1402 Tenth Street East. He received a
letter back from the owner with contemplated repairs to be done in 90 days. Growth
Coordinator Lovan made the motion to grant 90 days to complete the repairs, seconded by
Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
KEN ELLIS BUILDING
Parks Director Manor said Teresa Kavanaugh has requested the rental fee be waived in order
to hold an event. Mayor Galligan told him to check with the Parks Board on this.
JEFF FEST AND GARDEN TOUR SIGNS
Growth Coordinator Lovan made the motion to approve erecting signs promoting Jeff Fest
and the Garden Tour for two weeks, seconded by Mayor Galligan and carried unanimously.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Growth Coordinator Lovan
made the motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:25 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson
and carried unanimously.
