HomeMy WebLinkAboutJune 18, 2010JEFFERSONVILLE CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL SESSION Monday, June 18, 2010 12:00 P.M. {Noon} City Hall Council Chambers The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Special Session on Friday, June 18, 2010. Council President Nathan Samuel called the meeting to order at 12:00 P.M., and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilpersons Mike Smith, Ed Zastawny, Connie Sellers, Ron Grooms, Barbara Wilson, and Nathan Samuel. Councilperson Keith Fetz was absent. Also present were Mayor Tom Galligan, Council Attorney Greg Clark, and Chief Deputy Clerk Treasurer Suzy Bass. Wastewater Department Director Len Ashack presented the Council with the Revised Long Term Control Plan (LTCP) for the City of Jeffersonville and the W WTP. He reminded all that this was an information session only and not a public hearing. Mr. Ashack presented the Council with a consent decree from last year along with a schedule of estimated project casts and funding (attached). Mr. Ashack presented and explained the timeline for the annexation sewer project. In his presentation, Mr. Ashack recommended his Annexation Plan (attached). He said that part 1 must be done by the end of the year. He said whether the city builds a new plant or not, the city must abide by the timetable to forego penalties. He also stated that the City presented its recommended alternative for the LTCP with a 20 year implementation schedule. EPA Has not commented on the City's revised LTCP. Mr. Ashack presented several slides of pictures of current sewer lines that are damaged around the city. Mayor Galligan said the problem with the Riverpoi-t 21ift station at the Maritime Centez• is that it has two pumps but the force main used to is only 8" which means only one pump can be used which limits the capacity of the lift station. More discussion followed. Mayor Galligan said that the whole transition from where we are as to where we statted is from all of the work accomplished by Mr. Ashack.
