OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA
APRIL 14, 2010
Mayor Galligan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. and on call of the roll those members present
were: Engineer Miller and Councilperson Wilson. The meeting was held at Maple Street Elementary
School.
Also present were: Police Chief Deeringer, Vehicle Maintenance Director Drury, Parks Director
Manor, Building Commissioner Segraves, Street Commissioner Hosea, Assistant Police Chief Grimes,
Safety Director Mongarella, Fire Chief Harrod, City .Engineer Crouch, Councilperson Smith, IT
Director Hardy, Code Enforcement Officer Frey, Animal Shelter Director Wilder, Growth Coordinator
Lovan, Executive Assistant Young, Councilperson Sellers, Personnel Director Calabro,
Communications Director Thomas, and Deputy Clerk Mayfield.
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve the payroll as presented, and seconded by
Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously.
RECOGNITION
Mayor Galligan gave recognition to Darren Stikes and Frank Sims who work for the street
department. They helped a handicapped person who was in a wheelchair that became stuck
in mud. A gift certificate from Zaxby's was given to the employees along with thanks for
what they did.
WALNUT RIDGE MOWING CONTRACT
Engineer Miller made the motion to approve a contract with Walnut Ridge for mowing
services along the riverfront in the amount of $475.00 per cut, seconded by Councilperson
Wilson and carried unanimously.

SIDEWALK REPAIRS
Student Council members from Maple Street Elementary School addressed a sidewalk
problem in the block of Division Street and Maple Street. They said the sidewalk is cracked
and bumpy and asked what could be done about it. They voiced concern about pedestrians
tripping and falling because of the condition of the sidewalk. Councilperson Smith said a
price was obtained last year to replace a portion of the sidewalk. Mayor Galligan said he
thought it would be better to replace the whole sidewalk and will get a price on how much it
will cost. He said it will be paid for out of the 50/50 Program and should be started before
the school year is over. He plans to put the Student Council members names and the date in
the sidewalk as well.
PERMISSION TO SELL ROADSIDE
Roland Harrison asked permission to sell novelties and food roadside across from Thornton's
on Tenth Street. Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve Roland Harrison to sell
roadside and obtain a permit from the Building Commissioner's office, seconded by Engineer
Miller and carried unanimously.
ELECTRIC CONTRACT APPROVAL
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to approve a contract with Cooley and Spaulding
Electric to hook up a new generator at City Hall in the amount of $34,876.00, seconded by
Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
4105 UTICA PIKE
Councilperson Wilson made the motion to table this item for one week, seconded by
Engineer Miller and carried unanimously.
RESIDENT ONLY PARKING SIGN/1030 E. MAPLE STREET
Michael Connor appeared on behalf of Joe Burch who resides at 1030 E. Maple Street
requesting a resident only parking sign. After some discussion Councilperson Wilson made
the motion to approve a resident only sign pending police approval for Joe Burch at 1030
Maple Street, seconded by Engineer Miller and carried unanimously. Mr. Connor asked if his
own handicapped parking sign could be moved up some and the Board said that wouldn't be
a problem.
COMPLAINT/HORNS
Councilperson Smith said he has received complaints from residents in his district about
honking horns due to the Jeff Boat picketing. It is occurring at the intersection of Meigs
Avenue and Market Street in the wee hours of the morning in a residential area. Mayor
Galligan said the problem would be addressed and suggested ticketing.
Mayor Galligan thanked the Maple Street Elementary School students for the invitation to
come to their school and hold the meeting.
There being no further discussion to come before the Board, Engineer Miller made the
motion to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 a.m., seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried.
