MARCH 9, 2010
The regular meeting of the Jeffersonville Building Authority was held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010
at 9:45 a.m. in the second floor conference room at the Jeffersonville City Hall.
Members present were Building Commissioner Russ Segraves, Don Sperzel, Bill Fry & Mayor
Thomas Galligan. Also present was Dennis Julius, Kevin Morlan and Jim Coryell with Cooley &
Spaulding Electric Co., Inc.
MINUTES
Mr. Sperzel made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 9, 2010 minutes with the
following correction in paragraph 5. Keith Stayton made a motion to approve a two year contract
in the amount of $4,561.00 with Essential plan from Al-Emerson Network Power, Liebert Service,
Inc. for an annual inspection. The motion was seconded by Mr. Fry and carved unanimously.
FLAG POLE LIGHTS
An update on the flag pole lights was given. This is a work in progress.
JPD FLOOR COVERING
An update on the Jeffersonville Police Department dispatch room floor covering was given. Mr.
Segraves will get bids on the JPD carpet tiles as well as the stairwell.
GENERATOR
A discussion was held on the proposed generator. Mr. Segraves handed information on four
separate units. After a lengthy discussion those present decided to do a site visit of the area. After
returning back to the meeting the Board agreed to go with 2A which is the Nixon Power
Alternative /John Deere 280 KW Diesel Generator. This unit is to basically fit in where the 80 is
currently located with a few modifications. All agreed that good clearance is needed to service the
proposed unit. Mr. Segraves said the Building Authority will be purchasing the generator and
Cooley & Spaulding will be giving an estimate. Mr. Segraves is to contact Sam Hosp of Nixon
Power to go over the specifications again. Mr. Segraves is to let Mr. Fry and Mr. Sperzel know
when he receives the specs on the generator and transfer switch so that they can pick them up and
thoroughly review them before the next meeting. A special meeting may be called.
OHIO RIVER SCENIC BYWAY SIGN
Mr. Segraves showed the Board a drawing he just received from The Ohio River Scenic Route of
Southern Indiana, Inc. for a sign that was approved a few years ago by the former Planning
Director, Chester Hicks. The proposed sign is to be located on City Hall property near the
fountain.
