City Hall Council Chambers The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in Special Session on Monday, March 1, 2010. Council President Nathan Samuel called the meeting to order at 5:45 P.M., and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilpersons Mike Smith, Connie Sellers, Barbara Wilson, Keith Fetz, and Nathan Samuel. Councilpersons Ron Grooms and Ed Zastawny arrived at 5:50 p.m. Also present were Council Attorney Greg Clark, City Attorney Darren Wilder, and Deputy Clerk Treasurer Tiffany Timberlake. Mayor Tom Galligan arrived at 6:10. Councilperson Sellers made the motion to approve the agenda as presented, seconded by Councilperson Wilson and carried unanimously Ray Bollhauer with American Legal Publishing came before the Council to present a proposal to codify city ordinances. Mr. Bollhauer stated that American Legal Publishing prepared the last City Code Book for the City of Jeffersonville in 1993. Council President Samuel asked how often codes should be updated, Mr. Bollhauer said that they recommend updates be added every year. American Legal Publishing also offers a web site that could be linked to from the City of Jeffersonville's web site. Sandy Haenisch with Curb Appeal came before the Council to ask them to consider outsourcing street cleaning with her company. Ms. Haenisch believes that Curb Appeal would be able to keep more litter out of the sewer systems especially in the downtown area. They would not only sweep the streets but they would also use a vacuum truck to clean the sidewalks and grass areas between the streets and sidewalks. Following a brief discussion Mayor Galligan stated that he would be interested in further discussing this with Ms. Haenisch.
