HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-OR-62AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING FEES FOR POLICE REPORTS AND PERMITS WHEREAS, the City Police Department incurs expense in providing various reports and permits for the public; and WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville (hereinafter the "Council") wishes to establish appropriate user's fees to allow the police department to recoup those expenses. NOW THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED that the following provisions be added as Section 32.05 of the Jeffersonville, Indiana Code of Ordinances: § 32.05. COLLECTION OF FEES FOR ACCIDENT, BLOTTER, CASE, AND CRIMINAL HISTORY REPORTS AND HANDGUN PERMITS (A) The City Police Department is hereby authorized to collect a fee for each accident report, blotter report, case report, criminal history report, and handgun permit it issues. (B) The exact amount of the fee to be charged shall be regulated by the City Board of Public Works and Safety, subject to the limitations set forth in I.C. 35-47-2-3, I.C. 9-29- 11-1, and I. C. 5-2-5-7. (C) The revenue collected from the report and permit fees shall be deposited at least once each week with the office of the City Clerk-Treasurer in the Law Enforcement Continuing Education Fund. (D) The police officer or other police department employee issuing a report or permit shall issue a receipt for each such report or permit fee collected hereunder. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval. Passedthis ,.~ dayof~~' 199~.
