HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-20-1994COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSONVILLE, INDIANA JUNE ~0~ 1994 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville met in regular session in Council Chambers in the City-County Building, Jeffersonville, Indiana, at 9:30 P.M. on the 20th day of June, 1994. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Raymond J. Parker Jr., with Clerk and Treasurer C. Richard Spencer Jr, at the desk. Mayor Parker welcomed all in attendance, asking all those present to stand as Councilperson Bill Wolpert gave the invocation. He then asked all those present to join him in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. The roll was called and those present were Councilpersons Bill Wolpert, Andrew Williams III, Donna M. Frantz~ Barbara Wilson, and Robert L. Potter. Absent: Councilpersons Steven R. Stemler, and Peggy Knight Wilder. Mayor Parker presented the minutes of the meetings of June 7, 1994, and June 13, 1994 for consideration by the Council. Councilperson Potter made the motion to approve the minutes as presented, seconded by Councilperson Williams and carried unanimously. Clerk consideration by Potter made the motion to Councilperson Wilson and Mayor Parker and Treasurer Spencer presented the claim list for the Council. Mayor Parker asked for any questions or comments. Fire Chief Dooley explained the advantages to this agreement and answered questions of the Council. Mayor Parker explained this joint venture wiii save Clarksville and Jeffersonville on funding. Chief Dooley noted this has been approved by Attorney Gillenwater and Clarksville has already signed the agreement. At the conclusion of all discussion, Councilperson Potter made the motion to approve the Agreement as presented, unanimously. Councitperson seconded by Councilperson Williams and carried Frantz asked to table the Resolution Composting Tag Sales as the Councilpersons Wolpert~ Williams, Wilson, and Potter. Councilperson Frantz. Councilperson Wilson is happy to report that Congressmen Hamilton has seen that money has been approved for the bridge study. Councilperson Wilson explained the Park Department is in need of a one-half ton pick-up truck. The Park Department has $8,500 available in their budget~ however an additional $62000 is needed. Interim Superintendent Donnie Poole emphasized the need for the truck. Following discussion a verbal agreement was given to go ahead with the purchase and the means of funding will be looked into. vote: Ayes: Nays: Encouraging Business Participation In contract for composting has not been entered into by the City. Clerk and Treasurer Spencer presented Ordinance No. 94-0R-80, An Ordinance Transferring Funds Within Same Department (Fire Department) for the third reading. It is his hope all Councilpersons will have their comments in so that this may be done in a short time. Councilperson Potter stated last year the budgets were finalized with less than $100~000 difference from the budgets as presented by the Mayor. Clerk and Treasurer Spencer presented budgets other than those of the Mayor's. He asks for clarification on the financing of the truck for the Park Department.
