City Hall, Room 101, Jeffersonville, IN 47130 The Common Council of the City of Jeffersonville. met in Special Session on Monday, October 19, 2009. Council President Connie Sellers called the meeting to order at 6:06 P.M., and on call of the roll those members present were: Councilpersons Mike Smith, Ed Zastawny, Keith Fetz, Connie Sellers, Barbara Wilson, Ron Grooms, and Nathan Samuel. Also present were Mayor Tom Galligan, Council Attorney Greg Clark, and Deputy Clerk Treasurer Barbara Hollis. Councilperson Samuel made the motion to approve the agenda as presented, second by Councilperson Wilson, passing on a vote of 7-0. Big Four Bridge And Pedestrian Parkway Planning and Zoning Assistant Director Brian Fogel along with HNTB Representative Mohammad Nouri reviewed the history, the charge, the project schedule and the design process of the Big Four Bridge and Pedestrian Parkway. Questions and discussion followed the presentation. Councilperson Smith questioned the plan for an elevator. This has been talked about but is not probable. The history of Colston Park was discussed as well as the possible purchase of Rose Hill School. Options are being looked at for the ball fields. Federal transportation dollars are being used. Parking does need to be addressed. Councilperson Zastawny does not understand the concept regarding access to the Greenway and/or Spring Street. Assistant Director Fogel said the play is to the concept of the convention center. All has been taken into consideration. New World System Police Chief Deeringer, Assistant Chief Mike Pavey and Assistant Chief Kevin Morlan appeared before the Council with an update and demonstration on the laptop computers and the New World System software. Assistant Chief Morlan reviewed several of the functions of the new system on the screen as each Councilperson followed along on a laptop. The durability of the laptops was explained. The system is about half complete. Assistant Chief Pavey thanked the Council for the funding and the time.
